Putting together an SEO services sites ( more on this later looking to involve some warriors )

Site a week or two from going live - however the guys involved in design have gone heavy on internal linking and articles in similar subject area ( pages that inform user about same thing ) - looking to have this as a long term, good example of well SEO'd site with first class architecture.

Also interetsed in your view on articles page ( bottom of home page) yes/no - do smething different with these pages ??

Site look is not anywhere near what it will be but your opinion on on site optimisation would be hugely welcome. Be gentle

Ok, the site definitely needs more work (visually), and also the article section is not very user-friendly (which is a huge deal for SEO).

At the very least, I suggest moving all the articles into categories instead of just listing down the page.

Another concern I have is that all the content is very similar, and there are a few broken links.

How exactly are you going to be doing the SEO? Have you hired link builders, writers, etc, or are you just going to be reselling other services?

    Cheers,
    Dave

thanks for that input - outsourced the framework of site - bringing it in house
Agree think a page of articles looks contrived and interested in your view on pages that carry similar tital - clearly design guy is trying to cover of all search terms and get exact match in url window - bad idea ??

Longer term plan is this will dovetail with other services and that we partner up with some key people who fundamentally understand the business in each geography and use outsourcers with proven and trustworthy trach record.

If this is rip up and start again then if need be that is what it will be but would sooner salvage something, not concerned visually that is least of the issues , want this to be right though -- - should we just takes pages with similar titles and decide which one gets binned - if we do what is the most effective method of not having broken links indexed - permanent 301 redirects ??

    Any and all input welcome.

These days, it can be a bad idea. EMDs seem to becoming less important than they once were.

That said, changing the URLs for ALL of those pages will take a lot of time, spending that time just building high quality backlinks to these pages will be a lot more helpful.

Definitely not a rip up and start again job, but I would be more concerned with the visual aspects of the site, minimalizing some of the componants that you don't needs and making everything easy to read, flowing, and possibly containing images and diagrams.

I am saying this from an SEO point of view more than anything. Google is becoming increasingly smarter as to the overall look and feel of websites. It knows the things it like and it knows the things it doesn't.

This is becoming a huge factor in rankings these days so more asthetically pleasing websites may have an advantage over you.

Have you considered chucking the whole lot into Wordpress?

      Cheers,
      Dave

That's a great shout. Have a couple of wordpress things on the go - but my coding skills are like my chat up lines dated and a bit cheesy.

Might stick an ad up in warriors for hire section. If someone can do a quick effective turnaround might be best. Would articles be best as part of bolg or split geographically and categorised. Thanks for your input Dave

Either way is good, but as they are more informative style articles I would be inclined to split them into geographical categories as static webpages. - Just looking at it from a visitors point of view (static web pages seem to have more percieved credibility than blog posts).

Either way would be fine for SEO.

Let me know if you need a hand with the Wordpress stuff, we are capable of the task.

          Cheers,
          Dave
