Hi.

Can the PR on a Squidoo lens increase even without any real backlinking?

I've noticed a few peoples lenses that seem to have around PR2-3, but when I check their backlinks, they don't 'appear' to have more than 1 or 2 backlinks... and they are just from other Squidoo lens.

I'm wondering whether these are just aged pages which have benefited from Squidoo's high PR domain trickling down to them? Is this possible?

thanks

Yes Squidoo Lens can get PR without even 0 backlink. I have many web 2.0 internal pages moved to PR3 without any backlink. So there are many onPage factors involved in Pagerank system and only backlinks cannot lead to high PR.

I have one particular lens that is PR5. Most of my top ones are PR2-4.
If you read my posts, I do very little nonsense backlinking.

Squidoo is great for link bait. Plus, if you pump up visitors and content,
squidoo's internal linking takes over. There are various ways to
take advantage of the interlinking of squidoo.

Squidoo's link juice flows downhill, no doubt about that. But not to
    each and every lens.

I believe their PR flows to my good lenses naturally via internal
linking, especially to high ranking squids. I have done a ton
    of hard work with squidoo.

If people knew the value of internal linking and building a backlinking
empire, full of great content sites, like squidoo, blogspot, etc., they
would stop asking how to get backlinks.

Okay, a lot of that was off topic, more on the power of squidoo.

Hmmmm, very interesting. I've never touched Squidoo nor even thought about it in this way at all. This gets the gears turning...

I've gotten a pagerank as high as 4 on my Hubs, so I imagine Squidoo could do the same. It's mainly due to the internal link structure. I think CTR and some on-page factors matter for PR as well.
