There is less internet traffic in the summer so my guess is that there are less people competing for ads so the advertisers do not have to pay as much which means adsense will pays less. That's just my take on it I could be wrong but it went down for me last summer too.

What is dropping, the views or the CTR?

Yup, mine too, but my traffic is down too. Since nothing else has changed in terms of my rankings, I'm thinking it has to do with fewer people spending time on the internet during the summer.

Yes my numbers are down for my sites with adsense on them. The pages rank well, all 1st page so my assumption would be as above, summertime fun!

It's hard not to worry when your income drops big, but it does appear to be the "summer effect".

My CTR has remained stable, but so far for July my page Impressions are down 18% from June, while my eCPM for June is down a whopping 29.6% !!!! so....OUCH.

Adwords advertisers are definitely getting much lower pricing this month....at least someone is happy.

I guess I better take advantage of the cheap adwords pricing and send more traffic to my ecommerce sites, or maybe I should just hit the beach like everyone else.....

Yup, definitely down quite significantly. I think we are going to have to wear hard hats until September kicks in. Im just going to build more sites for when it picks up again.

oops, somehow I wrote down the wrong number for my June eCPM. Things are even bleaker than my original analysis. My eCPM went from $135 last month, to $88 so far in July. Today looks even bleaker, so my eCPM is still not done it's freefall.

Mine CTR is 4.19% is that under radar of being getting bann??? or is it good enough to earn money??

Not sure what you mean about being under the radar, if your generating bogus clicks you'll get banned regardless of CTR.

My average CTR from Dec 2008 until today is 20.29%. A higher CTR is a good thing, google wants to see that, as it means they are providing relevant ads to your site.

My CTR averages around 5-6% year round. Should I be concerned and what can I do to increase that? Should I shed sites that don't earn as much so it will make my average higher - or not worry about it?

I wouldn't be concerned with getting rid of the sites with low CTR. I would play around with the ad placements and sizes and see if you can increase CTR, of course I'm assuming you have traffic to the site(s).

The type of niche obviously plays a role in CTR and eCPM as well.

          Here's hoping summer ends soon....

I would only worry about CTR. If you traffic drops due to summer, it will come back as long as you keep your rankings.

You get cool CTR. Ive test lot of recommended themes for adsense such as clickbumps, ctr theme, heatmap but nothing work. I am curious to know what theme you are using to get that CTR.

My daily CTR is steady at 4 % and when I get lucky day it jump up to 7%

Your niche must be based on providing "Information" on some topic?

Themes Or Ads placement is not the only factor for high CTR, sometimes no matter how good your ads placements are, you still won't get decent CTR. It usually happens when your website is based on "Information" about some topic, and your visitors, arrives, read and leave your website. On the other hand product based adsense sites, made on buyer's keywords, will get higher CTR, because those visitors are in buying mood, and are more likely to click ads.

100% agree. That is why I don't have any choice for increasing revenue rather than increasing traffic and filter low paying ads so even CTR stay the same revenue will be much different

Where is the traffic coming from? Is it from the search engines or referring sites? If it's from the SE's and you've dropped a few spots, that would help explain it.

Another possibility is that a long-time advertiser may have stopped running their campaign as well.

On another note, if you every see a huge increase in your earnings per click, that's typically due to a new advertiser entering the field and not really knowing how to bid properly. Those typically don't last very long, though.

Adsense goes down in the summer UNLESS you have some trendy and popular niches for summer or other things that are more evergreen throughout the year.

I agree that you should work on a lower earning site to bring up earnings. If you work on adding content, backlinking, great seo and placement, etc. and it doesn't help in six months, then consider unloading it.

And as for captkev wanting summer to end soon...Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, I've waited all through the cold months for lots of daylight and warm summer days. Add some profitable summer niches and quit wishing summer ends soon.

There could be a number of reasons for this.

        1. The big "G" has been cracking down on small sites they consider to thin.

        2. The big "G" has been giving more priority to lager or authority retail sites if you are in the "product niche". If not, then see what your competitors are doing.

        3. The panda updates have hurt some, while others have seen increases.

        4. You also need to consider your niches. Some niches don't do so well in the summer months.

5.You also have to remember you adsence click cost is based on adwords. Your CPC(how much you get for a click) is directly related to how high people are willing to bid on a key word. If there are not as many people bidding on a keyword, your CPC will go down.

        6. Don't panic! Take a look at the sites that are doing well and continue to add more pages and backlinks. The big "G" seems to like larger, and well themed sites with "original" content that grow over time.

These are just some of the reasons I could think of off the top of my head. I hope this helps you out.

        AprilCT;

Sorry about the summer end wish, but maybe you should do what I do and live in Mexico for the winter months!

But you're right, I definitely need to start working on some summer niche's for next summer.

That's strange. I recently saw some information explaining that many big name companies were getting suspended and losing major profits from adsense

@bigcaveman thanks for that info, I will have to go in and take a look at some of my campaigns

Despite the fact that it's summer could these experimental ads being currently shown that say adchoices and not ads by google have something to do with this drop in cpc for many publishers.

My adsense dropped from June 1st until last week. During the down time, i try to search for Google and my site indexed page is getting lower and lower... until recently that I've changed my site Theme and also do filtering on unrelated ads in my side then my adsense payout is higher and slowly getting back to normal =)

Mine started going down before summer. Noticed a dramatic decrease around February. Thought it might have to do with the improvement of Yahoo/Bing, advertisers taking their money elsewhere. We'll see in autumn if it picks up.
