I meant some newspapers have online versions. So that readers can read and comment on news and articles from their computer. And this comment section allows backlinks. Sometime do-follow and support anchor texts too. But its very difficult to create a list of 100 newspapers that allow dofollow anchor text backlinks.

All reputable newspapers online use flash or a script that
makes the links invisible, nonexistent, or nofollow. Most
ban the use of html. And the other "newspapers" ? Well,
google would care less about those anyway.

At first I thought maybe you were referring to a classified ad.
Interesting idea, if the classified ad link counted. But, probably
not.

I'm not sure if you are looking for backlinks TO your news article, or backlinks IN a news article, but either way... you should look into a citizen news site like the Third Report.

They accept links to almost any article that includes newsworthy content, and they DO NOT use the nofollow tags for these news links.

If you are looking to write articles of your own where backlinks are allowed, you can do that, too, in some limited circumstances. Most articles cannot include links, but they are more lenient with local news articles, especially for churches, not-for-profits, and businesses that participated in or sponsored a charity event that is being reported on.

In those cases -- and as long as there is a newsworthy local event reported on -- quite a bit of promotional material, including a link or two, often gets through, and they DO NOT add nofollow tags IF they approve the inclusion of a link.

So if your online business sponsors a local charity, make sure to have someone write about it as a local news piece, and link to your site.

I think they mean local newspapers websites. A lot of the local news companies have websites that are well respected by Google so getting links from them is important. I would suggest making a local listing somewhere that your local news' website aggregates from. In orange county the OC Register uses local listings but I do not know where they pull the data from. Good backlink tho.

Yeah, newspaper backlinks don't work for SEO. A few months ago, a guy on the WF would create 300 newspaper backlinks for you. I bought it and it made no SEO benefit whatsoever on my site and no additional traffic either. So don't bother.

You're better off doing a paid press release, then you will make it inside some newspaper websites with a do follow link embedded inside your 100% unique, relevant content, they're good links to have.
