So I went to SEM Rush to check out how the site I am working on is doing. Ranking for five key words, two on page one, and three on page two.

Unfortunately when I went looking in Google for them, one has disappeared and two have dropped in ranking.

Funny thing is that all the articles that I published, and the thousands of links, none of those key words was my anchor text. So how did these pages rank for these key words? I guess it must have been naturally. The articles were crap that I rewrote, and I suck as a writer. A friend of mine told me they looked like they were done in the Philippines. I just published some articles that I outsourced and they aren't too bad in my opinion. No Pulitzer prizes, but decent enough in my mind.

I am going to do some more link building this weekend to see if I can rank these latest articles. Maybe I can start to see some traffic. The key words that I have on the first and second pages are minuscule search volume according to GKT. But at least I am making progress. I was beginning to get a little discouraged. I think this is the first time I have ever had a page on the first page, even if it was in the last spot or two. Best I ever did before was number 17 on page two.

This proves one thing that I want newbies to take note of. I have been doing this for a long time with no success other than my short stint as a Google News publisher. But I didn't give up, I keep plugging away, slowly but surly. Screwing most things up, but learning little by little. My goal is to be making a steady income, even if only a few hundred a month by the end of the year.

Quitters never win, and winners never quit. I am a winner, and don't you forget it.
