Today I have been asked by a friend who is planning to open an SEO company: "Eddie, how much content do I need to have in order to please Google"?

There isn't a single answer, as it depends how much content your competitors have. The quality of that content is also very important.

First of all, you need to make sure that you have a mixture of small posts(2oo words) and larger posts(500+ words). Why? Well, think about it... if you have 20 posts all in the 500 words bracket, would that really seem natural to you? I don't think so... Google might not like it either...it's better to be cautious.

This is the example I gave her, as she really insisted to give her a scenario:
If the top ranked site for your keyword has 100 backlinks and it has let's say 5 posts, you should analyse their backlinks. Most likely they are not that great and it will not be that hard to outrank them. Then in terms of content, you should have at least 8 posts which are either set on a drip-feed or just submit them gradually. Do not make the mistake of just posting all of them at once.

I hope this helps!
