Honestly can't really think of anything, except maybe that a particular domain I want is sometimes taken or that I find a great looking keyword that I think will have low competition and the competition ends up being unexpectedly outrageous.

      1. Having to reconcile different results from different tools for the same keywords.
      2. Domain squatters that buy exact match domains and do nothing but leave them at their park pages.

I don't know why you hate keyword researching, because it takes too much of your time to get good keywords? If that's the case then it's nothing but laziness. If you make a habit of keyword researching it becomes fun and you can find ton loads of good keywords in hours.

I would have to agree with Seleyna with regards to the point about the lack of appreciation from certain clients who think it's a quick and easy part of the process when in fact it is the most important and also an extremely time consuming SEO task.

To be honest I find doing keyword research for my own (and understanding clients) projects very rewarding. It's important to do the groundwork effectively and know that all of the next steps are based on sane logic.

    I love doing keyword research.
I treat it like a game of hide and seek.

I will never give up until I have found that one elusive keyword phrase.

You know how it is when you have found one that fits your niche, the count is good, the competition is beatable only to find most domains taken
    Grrrrrrrrrrrr

Onto the next one until a winner rears it's ugly head.

Look at it as a challenge, not a chore. Afterall, it is the lifeblood of your business

What tools are you using? I can't really think of any that aren't a one-time fee.

I really like the detective work in finding good keyword phrases. And from a SEO provider standpoint and and SEO-optimized content provider viewpoint, better keyword research means far better content.

BUT, what I really hate is trying to document a nice definitive procedure for the "perfect" keyword search when I'm in and out of 5-6 tools to get it all. Like everyone else, I've been bombarded with offers from sellers for "the perfect keyword research tool." That's what I hate. In my experience, you always have to use the brain to make it all fit together, and there is no ONE tool to make it happen.

I'm in the middle of trying to document my actual full process so I can turn it over to someone else when I don't have time.

It's not about finding a product that teaches it. I just need to sit down and "mind map" all the stuff in my head together into a complete process.

The time I spend searching for a good keyword set or exact match phrase only to find it parked by someone who will never do anything with it, and doesn't even realize that it is a gold mine waiting to be found.

Very time consuming, but once you found the right keyword for your niche, you will see it is worth your time and effort.
