Hey I got a question: if the top10 competition have small number of backlinks, but still have high PR, is it considered an easy competition?

For example:

What would be the chances of ranking #1 here?
#backlinks #competition #high #low #top

the data is meaningless because it doe not indicate the anchor text links that help put the pages into that serp. PR measures the overall strength of links but does not indicate what anchor texts are being used for those links

You will not know how stiff the competition is until you check what the links target by way of anchor text.

Okay okay I understand. What do you think about that specific example?? None of the top10 websites are optimized for the keyword (no title, desc, h1 tags)

      Thanks

Just looking at the screen shot, you've certainly found a keyword worth digging into. All of those red X's mean those sites aren't optimized for that keyword.

Without looking further, I'd say you have a good shot. But as the poster above mentioned, more research is required.

What kind of research though?? I mean most of the top 10 pages have less than 10 backlinks, not much to check.

      Direct answer:
You can reach #4 or #6 easily without even doing offpage work.Just use your keywords in title, domain, h1 and description and you will be fine. Add some high pr backlinks and see how far you will come.
      Good luck
Ps how many exact searches does this keyword have?Maybe we can make a deal

It has everything I look for when it comes to deciding on a keyword. At least 4 of the 10 sites has PR 3 or less, at least 4 of them have less than 300 backlinks and the on-page SEO is terrible for all of them. So yeah you could rank pretty easily. Just get the on-page right and throw a few hundred backlinks at it with a mix of the keyword as the anchor text along with some other phrases for diversity and before you know it your number 1.

Looks great! Get a domain name with your keyword in it, make sure your on page optimization is done well and build backlinks to your site. You should get in the top 3 if you do this right by the looks of your competition.

The #2 site is less than a year old, has PR 0, and only 2 BL to it, and by the looks of BLS, it does not look like a huge authority site

Also, when analyzing their backlinks make sure to also check things like page authority and domain authority. Check out Open Site Explorer

It looks pretty good to me, I would check a little further.

Do a Google search for the keyword, and then in another browser do the same search like this, inanchor:keyword. If the key word is more than one work, then use the quotes around them. Then see how many sites are in both screens. The less sites that are in both, the easier it should be.

This is telling you how many of those sites are back linking for that anchor keyword. The others just got there by luck or maybe on page, but they are not really working for it. So you work for it and you should make it shortly.

  • Competition depends on several on page and off page factors . You did not show the keyword . It all depends on it
