Hey Warriors
Been sitting on the side lines for to long now so I thought I would post my first post, I have had a little experience in IM but was dormant for to long attending my day job,but have now got the opportunity to revive my IM interests.Firstly let me say that the people on this forum need to be congratulated for their willingness to share their knowledge and tips, I for one enjoy learning from people with the vast experience that lots of you have, so thanks heaps.
I was wondering what peoples thoughts are on keyword research tools, have to say the payed version of Wordtracker impresses me a lot.
Can anyone offer other alternatives or suggestions. Thanks again Mark

It's good that you're asking around before taking the plunge.

I and many on the WF use Market Samurai. It has everything I need and is a great tool, specially if you're wanting to get into niche marketing. MS has a 14 day trial i believe.

For a newbie I would also recommend the free version of Traffic Travis. Its a pretty useful tool.

    Good luck

The best keyword research tool I've found so far is Rank Tracker. It's integrated with Google Adwords Keyword Tool, WordTracker, SEMrush, pull out data from Google suggest, Bing suggest and some other sources. Besides it allows you to enter your GA account details and shows how many visits a keyword triggered. You can try the free version, if you want

Sclark, can you link the Rank Tracker url that you were talking about? I searched for it on Google and came up with various websites claiming to be the "official Rank Tracker"

Google Adword Keyword Tool is the best for me, and I usually used this method to determine my choice in keyword phrases. I think we have different opinions in choosing the useful way for their keywords.

When talking about keyword research tools, you'll get lots of different responses. I started out with the free Google Keyword Tool. Market Samurai has a lot of additional data and I like it a lot. You do need to know how to use it and what info. to look for.

If you can afford it, you can get MS (Market Samurai). If not (yet), you can use the free Google Keyword Tool or Noble Samurai. Noble Samurai is the keyword part of MS and it's free. (Not 100% sure of that, but I think I've read this somewhere on the WF).

Also, if you sign up to Adwords and use the Google Keyword Tool there - it gives you more info. I believe.

Here's a WF thread about keyword research tools. I hope it helps you.

You can do some good digging with the free google keyword tool and after that check the phrases using the seoquake extension (free) with firefox to see what sites show up on page 1. It will check the pagerank and you can find the number of backlinks each has to see if you can compete on page 1.
