Anyone use this tool? Is it accurate? I started an EMD site a few days ago targeted to a specific keyword and I looked it up on MNF today and according to it, the SOC is about 1700 (very high). When i look at the SERP for the keyword, I see few sites targeted towards the keyword and they look beatable. Is the SOC data accurate for MNF?

I use this program. But the SOC can be misleading.

I suppose its not misleading as the program is called "Micro-Niche" finder. And will evaluate a keyword that is easy to rank for.

But keywords that require only a little bit of effort sometimes show a very high SOC. For example, I ranked a #5 in 3 months for a keyword that has 118,000 SOC and 75,000 exact searches.

Does this mean that the keywords with SOC in the green would be really easy to rank for? Could you rank on the first page for them w/o having any backlinks?

To know that, its best that you don't rely on the software solely when doing research.

Look at the Top 10 Results for the keyword. Look at the number and quality of backlinks they have. If a few of them have no backlinks, then yes you should be able to get on first page with an exact match domain and near perfect on-page seo.

Just keep in mind easy to rank for keywords may not give you big returns. Sometimes it's worth it to go after tougher competition.

Agreed. I like to check my competition "by hand" anyway, looking at things like title tags, header tags, domain name, quality of backlinks, number of backlinks, etc. - Basically look at what they've got, and see if you can do better.
