Does the title tag have to read like a legibale sentence or does it simply need keywords?

Should the description tag be teh exact same thing or do I add more words to that?

confused

      Hi Antonio,

Your title is the most important element in SEO. You should definitely use your keyword as part of your title.

Ideally your title should begin with your keyword, but remember that your page title is also the headline of your search engine listing. You want it to catch the attention of the searcher and compel them to read your description and/or click through to your page.

Your description carries a lot of weight also, so make sure it is as compelling as possible with emotional benefit and call to action. This is challenging to do in the limited space that the search engines give you, but hey it's way more room than a PPC ad gets.

I personally feel that the description tag and the title tag hold the same value. Both as equally important.

I agree completely, but to clarify things, your title tag must be a TITLE, it should contain your keyword preferrably start with it if possible, but it has to be a title that makes sense.

Description is simply a description to your website and what its about, should contain your keyword too

The title tag is MUCH more important than the description tag.

Antonio I use a long tail keyword phrase in my title tag,and in my meta description tag I start the description with the long tail keyword and end it with a two keyword phrase.

Your title is important but i've seen google rank sites for keywords without the keywords even being in the title. Google has their own way of doing things, and we will NEVER know why or how! Just stick to basic seo and try not to over analyze things.

The reply's here just have given you a general idea of what to do next.

well, it should include a sentence with keywords that make sense to your visitors and search engine. The keyword should be placed at the beginning of the sentence to get maximum benefits.

    e.g. keywords. weight loss programs

Weight Loss Program LA - Lose 20 lbs In 5 Weeks Guarantee!

@jrapisarda, because of the effect of Google bombing. that means google take more value of inbound links than the on page factor. However, you still need to work on your title and description since
search engines users use those element to determine if they want to visit your sites.

Really good answers, I may add one thing: Make sure all your titles are different, never use the same title on the hompage and all subpages, don't let them start with the same words like "Internet Marketing Blog - Homepage", "Internet Marketing Blog - Hot SEO secrets", "Internet Marketing Blog - My Links"...that's bad. It's a pain, especially for huge sites, but well worth the effort.

Your title should always include your keyword that way it can be easily searched on search engines. Also, it definitely does not hurt for you to include your keyword as well in your description page.
