Yes you´re right mate... the two companies involved in this situation have already released an informative article letting Yahoo Site Explorer´s users know about this circumstance.. in any way.. there are other some interesting tools that check backlink counts to a given site more accurately.. so we have nothing to lose..(-:

the majestic seo site explorer is amazingly cutting-edge .. with insightful stats about backlinks counting..

Have a nice day making business online!!

    Cheers!!

There is still backlinkWatch .Com, or just purchase a SEOSpyglass software it is more accurate.

BacklinkWatch.com uses Yahoo Site Explorer for its backend so once YSE shuts down who knows where they'll pull their data from.

Open Site Explorer by seomoz is a great tool. The free version is limited on the number of results. But it's worth the money for the full blown tool set. They have so many tools.

Yeah, though yahoo site explorer is a good backlink checker tool, there are still tools out there that we can use in checking our backlinks.

What some of you don't understand is that the software like (example) SEOspyglass use the yahoo explorer API to pull that backlink data & display inside of the software.

When they finally pull the plug on yahoo explorer it will kill maybe half the software that returns backlinks.

yeah totally thats why i was a bit worried ! most of the backlink checker services uses YSE API to extract data ! so that will leave them in a big problem
well some other services does rely on YSE ,for example majestic and open site explorer for seomoz

In my opinion Open Site Explorer and Ahrefs are going to be your best substitutes.
