Don't Discount Bing + Yahoo Traffic

I have a website that is only 1 week fresh. Picked up the domain name last week, setup the site, structured it correctly for SEO purposes and placed some top-quality, SEO optimized content on it. Once I had all of my pages/posts built out, I did some social bookmarking for each page, then started working on my regular link building platform.

I decided to check my traffic stats (as I already saw earnings start coming through today, which was faster than normal) and I noticed traffic coming in from Bing and Yahoo for one of my secondary keywords. Come to find out that secondary keyword is ranked #4 on both Bing and Yahoo. This is a HUGE traffic keyword on Google alone, but it also appears to be that way for Bing and Yahoo, too. Needless to say, once I get this site ranked on Google, it has the potential for massive traffic AND earnings

Did I do anything differently? I wish I could say I did, but it just goes to show you that careful optimization with good quality content that people will actually READ goes a long way.

Anyway, just wanted to tell you all don't forget about those "other little search engines" out there, as they can bring you some serious traffic, too. I can't wait to see how things fair when I get this sucker ranked on page one for it's keyword (main keyword phrase is 201,000 EXACT searches per month alone )

I agree. Free traffic is free traffic. While Google can bring massive numbers, Bing/Yahoo is not to be ignored.

LOL, they say that Yahoo/Bing has something like a 30% market share. I encourage you guys to check your analytics and you will find that they don't send you anywhere close to 50% of the traffic that Google gives you.

    For example:

    Google: 2,769 Visitors

We would expect to have at least 1,385 visitors from Yahoo and Bing combined.

    Yahoo: 93
    Bing: 81

Might differ for certain keywords/niches. I have never really seen any incredible traffic from them, but this secondary keyword I have ranking #4 there currently has brought at least 100+ visitors per day from both Bing and Yahoo combined. If you ask me, that's not too shabby. Plus, it's free traffic that's converting and clicking on ads, so how can you go wrong?

Should you focus on those two? No, but remember that they are still a part of the puzzle. I don't know why this particular site is receiving so much traffic from the two at the time (since I didn't do anything differently than I normally do), but I'll still take the results.

Agreed. I highly doubt they have anywhere near 30% market share. But hey, any traffic is good traffic as long as it converts.
