Do you trust your backlink outsourcer?

Hi all,

I'm asking the question about trusting your backlink outsourcer, providing of course you outsource your backlinks.

Do you check each and every backlink in the reports that they send you or do you go through and check a few random links here and there?

I suppose if you've been using the same outsourcer for a while then you can build trust but I'm talking more here about taking a new outsourcer on.

If you took a new guy on and got him to do you 500 links would you check all the links or random ones from the list?

In my experience I have found it takes time to build up a level of trust whereby a lot of admin time isn't spent on Quality checking work from outsourced parties.
I usually start with small link builiding project... maybe 50 links and actually check half of these manually. Even if they are all perfect and as agreed within the initial spec I let the outsourcer know of the results so they know I am checking in great detail.
After a few months/campaigns I will only randomly check a very small percentage of larger campaigns.

I try to work with only people that I can trust and that means, finding those who always deliver. I hate link building and checking to verify the links will be like the same nightmare happening to say all over again

i have used 2 from elance who both had good ratings. 6 months on these backlinks have expired. usually these 500 links they add are to social media sites that expire, or forum sigs and profile sigs that get overwritten for the next customer. i will not be using a backlinker again unless its for free!

I hear what you are saying here coolspot, I used a couple of oDesk guys and while one was very good it remains to be seen how long those links stay up.

The other was dire and it seemed even he was outsourcing the links, kind of a sub-outsourcer I could easily tell because bunches of links had very similar properties and other bunches were riddled with errors.

A year or two ago I was using My Article Network to put up articles on their blog network and I have to say I had a bit of success with it. Not so much in shooting up the rankings but getting direct traffic and sales from those articles.

I was writing and spinning the articles (through Excel) myself though and it soon got very tedious. I wasn't confident of using outsourcers then to write articles but I may revisit that and give it another go.

If you use something like scrapebox, you can check the links pretty quickly. I usually check all the reports in the beginning, for a new outsourcer, and then I become more lenient and check them every once in a while.

I've outsourced my backlinking before - and I never liked how it is done. I always want them to do X amount of backlinks per day and on a certain day - don't do any at all. These guys do them as fast as possible - so no, I don't trust them...

      Depends on the task.
I it's not that many high quality links, then I check them manually.
If low quality/high volume I use scrapebox to verify the links and check page/domain PR.

      WHAT, that's crazy talk!

You must not outsource stuff like submit the site to 200 directories, or 200 social bookmarking sites

In those cases I check about 10 random links.

Most people use software anyways, so if one is right chances are the rest will be as well!

At that rate you could do it yourself. Yes it requires trust because I have experienced where they have sent reports that have been false. Needless to say they are not working for me any longer.

Check a few randomly until you trust them.

    It depends.

I've been burned by individuals in the past and gave up until I found a great source about 6 months ago. I committed to doing some work for him and it's paid off for me.

One thing I avoid is bulk link building practices. I prefer those that use manual techniques. Costs more but it's worth it in the long run.

It's hard to find trustworthy sources on the internet for your backlinks, but once you find one, you usually stick with them.

It is extremely important to check over most of the backlinks created by any new backlinker.

If you are checking ALL of them you are wasting your time IMO. You are outsourcing to save time, not to allow more time to procrastinate.

I check at least half or most of the links to find any issues. I relax down the line and let them get on with their work once I have built up some trust for them.

But I do continuously pick one or two links at random just to check that the quality is still there.

It's also good to say "hey, great job on this link, you really put a lot of planning into that".

This not only boosts confidence, but it also shows them that you ARE actively checking the links and they will have more reason to try to impress you.

    Cheers,
    Dave

For those of you that think its crazy to check each and every backlink, what do you think Scrapebox is for?

You can put in a list of 100,000++ links and check to make sure each and every link is there. When a tool is so cheap like Scrapebox and outsourcing can be so expensive, why not buy it?

Not to mention the fact that you can help find solid backlinks for your outsourcers to work on.

Quality comes with a price! If you are hiring someone for few cents, then no need to expect that he can do wonders. It is much better to stick with someone providing you links with no questionable SEO tactics.

I had a quick look at scrapebox and although it looked feature packed it was too expensive for me at this moment in time.

In fact it looked a little too "busy" with features, I could see myself playing around with it for hours and getting nothing done.

Of course, you should trust them. You hired them so trust them. However, don't trust too much. Always check their work for a quality production. Don't allow them to decide in their own.
