Hi

Just looking to see what criteria
people use for finding a good keyword
and getting it on googles first page.

so say your keyword has 1000 exact seaches per month
(and assuming there are plenty of buyers)

what would be your max competing sites be
and whats the max PR and backlinks on sites on the first page you would
go up against?

thanks

Ray

    Hi Ray,

When it comes to a relatively small number of searches (1000 per Mo.) you should not be concerned with the number of competing sites. This keyword may not be worth targeting unless you can get onto the first page of SERP.

You only need to look at the number 10 spot. If you can beat the number 10 spot, then you are on the first page.

Analyze the links that number 10 spot has and decide if you can do a better job with little effort, little enough to be worth your time.

Don't simply count the links, look at how well they have done with the relevance of the sites and anchor text. It doesn't take much to beat a site that has ignored these important factors.

Forget about counting links and PR they don't count that much, it's relevance that's important. In some cases you may be able to overtake them with better on-page relevance and a handful of highly relevant backlinks.

Keyword tags are an important element in all web pages. This is because keywords are the taglines which link our search for an item with a website dealing with that particular item, or an item closely associated with the product we are looking for.

The keyword tag can only hurt your SEO efforts. All major search engines ignore keyword tags, except for filtering pages that run afoul of their keyword stuffing policies.

I agree... analyze the incoming links on the first spot and create a strategy on how to counter it... post your site where that top 1 is posted if you can.. and do more..

It is a combination of several proponents .

But , there are certain things that you need to consider .

    • Get link from highly quality websites .
    • Quality also matters a lot ( but do not waste your time getting links from bad neighborhoods).
    • You should also work in on page optimization , file naming , directories structuring and LSI.

    I hope it helps .

"Build it and they will come" only worked in a boring Kevin Costner movie

The expensive way, SEO Elite and Keyword Elite or other tools that pull in data from a variety of sources and aggregate it into a report.

The cheap way, download SEOQuake and look at the backlinks in Yahoo and some other factors it shows.

Has anyone on this thread used Micro Niche Finder or know anyone who does? I'm wondering how it compares with SEO Elite and Keyword Elite. The price is right at $67.

Currently I'm researching keywords manually with the Google Adwords Tool and SEOquake and pasting my data into an Excel spreadsheet, but the whole point of IM for me is to eventually spend less time at the computer, not more.
