Question about gaining higher page rank

Currently the internal pages on my site vary between PR2 and PR1. My question is: can I boost my site's page rank by getting more PR1 links, or do I need to start getting PR3+ links to move up now?

You can do both. Basically when it comes to backlinks as the PR increases the importance of the backlink increases by a multiplier. For example a PR 5 backlink is X times better than a PR 4 backlink and so on. X is estimated to me 4 to 6 but since Google doesn't disclose it, nobody knows it for sure. The conclusion is: get as many backlinks as possible from different unique domains. If you have the option to choose between different sources, always start from high PR dofollow backlinks as they are worth way more.

Yes, in an ideal world I would just try to get PR5+ links, but they are very, very difficult to get (and keep!). PR2 and PR1 links are not too difficult to find, so I was wondering whether I could increase my site PR to 3 and beyond by focussing on getting a lot of PR1 and PR2 links.

The short answer is yes you can. I have seen websites with PR 4 rank that mostly their backlinks were PR 1. This specific website has over 2000 backlinks. BTW, getting PR 5 backlinks is not as hard as you imagine. Some forums including this one have high PR and dofollow signature. Popular Social Networking websites and Social Bookmarking websites have high PR. You can build pages in Squidoo and Hubpages. You can build blog pages with Word Press and Blogspot. Many article submission websites have high PR too. So many options are on the table.

BTW, to give you a general idea how it works is a collective weight of all of your backlinks and there are some major factors contributing as well:

        - Number of outbound links on the page of your backlink has reverse effect meaning the lower the number of other OBLs the better for you
        - Relevancy of the page to your website. The more relevant the better.
        - The more recent the backlinks the better. (You get a total weight of all if your backlinks. You keep it by having some new backlinks once in a while after you get to the right weight.)

Obviously all of those are assumptions of SEO experts as Google doesn't disclose its system.

Signature links give PR0 backlinks usually.

That said, PR3+ links are not hard to get. I suggest joining the Authority Link Network. Tons of high PR contextual backlinks. I just submitted an article a couple hours ago and already have a contextual PR3 backlink.

You done Both links PR=1 or PR 2 Or Pr 3 you got benefit from all websites. if you compare pr-1 site to pr -3 obviously you get more advantage from pr -3 so make both type link if you want to get fastly pr for your site so create high pr link . its dosen't mean you ignore pr 1 links.

Don't be too much focused on increasing your PR - it doesn't matter really. Do keyword research and put your efforts into ranking high for the keywords you target. To rank high, first check your on page seo factors, and then do link-building - the more diverse links in terms of PR and dofollow/nofollow you get, the better. Only make sure these links come from thematically relevant websites.

As long as it will have a great value to your site, then go for it. But let me remind you that focusing on PR does no good in SEO. Acquiring this thing is just a small factor in the world of SEO.

If you want to have better ranking, you have to consider other factors that would help your site to rank as well.

constant posting of fresh and unique content matter too, along with creating solid high pr backlinks.
