Will Buying Traffic Hurt SERPs in Long Term?

Basically, will buying visitors harm my site?

I'm thinking of the smaller type of package, eg, 5K visitors over a month for $20.

Will the increased visitors provide a short term Alexa boost

but, long term will Alexa and Google penalize you when the visitor numbers drop off?

Anyone have any experience?

No, but most of that website traffic is so crappy it is not even funny.

It depends on the quality... if you send un-targeted, crappy traffic, your bounce rate will go up, and G doesn't like that.

For sure your site is hurt in the serps when your competitors purchase backlinks to their own sites.

      Thanks Chaps for the responses.

Can you see the predicament poor IMer's are in?

I've only 4 responses and already the two polar views are expressed.
