SEO Experts: Will a .in domain hurt me?

I am creating a website for my new local offline marketing business and my business name is available as a .com or even .net domain in many forms (hyphens, etc).

However, I can come up with a short clever phrase related to my business name using a .in domain.

This is for my main website that will be my email address, will be on my business cards etc. It's not a keyword domain, but it is related to the type of marketing I do.

Is this a bad idea? Will it hurt my chances at getting any kind of rankings on my pages?

I do plan on using keyword domains for lead generation, if that matters.

Thanks!

It won't really matter in terms of ranking, but it will definitely matter in terms of trust and credibility.

Debbie - Thanks for your input... Do you think that my really well-designed website and being local myself can offset the credibility issue? As well as adding other credibility and trust elements to the site?

Cosmit - You seem to be contradicting yourself in your message, can you clarify?

    Thanks.
