Google has smiled upon me this day... Now I need help!

Hopefully He will continue looking favorably upon me...

OK. I am hoping that some Warriors might be able to give me a little advice here.

A few days ago I started a new blog in a relatively competitive keyword niche. I thought that it would take about 6 months to get ranked in Google. I only had written three 500 word blog posts and...

Lo and behold, I checked Google and I am ranking in spot #5 for my keyword, right under Walmart. Needless to say this made me happy. All I did was a little social bookmarking and blog posting to get some backlinks. It must have worked. I love SEO.

Anyhow, I obviously want to keep that spot and actually move up to #1 (who doesn't). I am going to keep up the backlinking efforts and attempt to post 2x a day with personally created unique content.

Sorry, I guess that am not one for brevity today... Any advice in keeping the Google Monster happy with a blog would be greatly appreciated. I will be setting up an auto-responder (sooner than I thought) through Aweber to monetize. Also in-blog affiliate reviews etc.

Thanks much in advance! Lutzi

Google loves social activity and unique content in a blog.

Direct some of your writing to web 2.0 sites and link to your posts to get ranked for more keywords and more pages. Note: I sign up to various web 2.0 sites using different proxies, not sure if it actually has more of an effect but I play things safe.

Also ensure your social efforts are ethical and shared by many people rather than the same people over and over.

I also embed social buttons into each post, keeps high numbers of social shares somewhat more 'normal' than if you had no links to share.

Keep up with your other backlinking on a smaller scale - article marketing, blog posts, blog comments, profile links, forum links, etc.

    Seo for blogs is fun

Thanks for the advice. I created a Feedburner Feed linked to a Twitter account, so I thought this might have helped get ranked quick. What you said here makes me think this is true.

I have done as you suggested and put in the DoAddAny Plugin (I think that is the name).

Nice one! Constantly updating feeds are great for ranking too.

As your blog is new it is likely that the pages will dance around in the search engine results pages a bit at first, just don't let it discourage you, keep addition g fresh content
