Simple Question about SEO

I thought I'd gotten my site on Google page one, but it was only on my computer's results. Other people I asked to look couldn't find it. Does this mean that Google, knowing I've been to my own site many times, sees it as a site I like and gives me a unique result? If so, how can you check page rank for a site you're trying to do SEO on?

The Result you have got because of the gmail account you have signed in. Google exactly knows the queries u have searched before so it will give more options to you when you signed in.

There are 2,3 points you need to consider before looking on these SERP results.

    1) IP
    2) Gmail account signed in
    3)Site targeted areas
    4)Cookie, sessions of previous search
    5) Queries you have searched before

Suppose you are doing SEO for one web site, and you searching daily in Google SERP for that web site Google will notify this and your IP. Suppose your web site is really originated for US purpose and you daily working on other country Ips..and hits/organic visits are more in other Ips than US ips Google will think your web site is more suitable out side of US. Hence, they will give priority to your web page in other IPs this way u will get different result in your IP and US Ips.

Other fact is the competition. Suppose you have less competition here for the web site say it is a travel web site (and your keyword is 'travel trip usa') when u do a search in local Ips u will get the result in forst pages..But in US Ips the result will be different...Because there is more competitors for the same keyword.

in order to get higher ranking in this case u need to attain good amount of back links from Focused area/where your business is focusing and u need to list your web sites in local business directories/Yellow pages/Google maps/yahoo local and try the result AFTER this tactics

Google personal search effect. You log off from Google account and clear browser data. Or else you can disable Google personal Search effect for your computer(Google account). Just Google you will get a lot of articles which say how to disable Google personalized search effect.

There are two possibilities.. one is that your Pc might be showing the results from the saved cookies, so use shift+cntrl+delete to clear all the cookies. second possibility would be the google dance..

Just get CCleaner from Piriform, and use that to clear your cookies. I use that regularly to get rid of unwated cookies and temporary internet files.

you can also use a rank checking tool. seobook.com has a pretty good free one. SEO Powersuite Rank Checker keeps a history of all your positions over time. I am sure there are others if you search rank checkers
