If you can , follow all of them .

But , the most effective for me Article Marketing .

If you properly create high quality and fresh articles and syndicate them across multiple directories , I am sure you will get thousands of links.
At the same time , if you fuel your syndication by using some services like "submit your Articles" , you will get a lot of benefits .

    I hope it helps.

Now this depends on weightage regarding rankings or traffic. If you write good informative posts in blogs or articles, providing they both get exposure you can get traffic from both of them.

Forum signature links are also very good for getting click throughs. I get quite a lot daily. Again, this depends on how much you contribute to the forum.

I have found lately that blog commenting has worked well for me ragarding rankings. Just by adding my website link to my name - but use your keywords instead... and vary it from comment to comment. Ensure that you comment on good blogs and write a good, helpful post and you cannot go far wrong. Just about 3 a day has worked wonders for me and keep it consistant.

Each of these methods has advantages, some more so than others.

When it comes to backlinks there are two important things to consider
    • The PR rank of the site that links to yours
    • The topic of the site containing backlinks - 20 links from related sites are much better than 50 links from non-related sites.
Probably the easiest one is forum posting with your link in your signature file. It can supply backlinks on high PR sites which in turn will help with SE's 'importance' rating for your page. Always try and find forums specifically related to your niche. That way, not only do you receive a high PR link but also highly related backlinks.

Directory submission once again supplies backlinks on high PR sites. They also have the advantage of supplying related links since you can add your link to related category.

Blog posting doesn't always have the high PR advantage. But if you go with related blogs it is worthwhile. To find related blogs you can use Google Blog Search or Backlink Builder Remember when posting blog comments to only make appropriate comments and don't just put links. As someone who runs a blog I know how annoying it is to get non-comments posted simply for the sake of backlinks. For this reason all comments on my site are moderated. And even if they weren't, inappropriate comments would quickly be deleted (as would links to porn or pharmacy sites).

Article submission is another great option for high PR backlinks. Links are also related since you submit articles to categories. The good thing with articles too is that article sites are constantly crawled for new content and an article can be at number 1 in google within hours of being accepted by sites like ezinearticles.com. So of course, not only do you have the advantage of a high PR backlink (from your link in your 'resource box') but the article itself can be at the top of search results for the chosen keywords. Unfortunately this effect is temporary. You would need to submit articles at least every two weeks to maintain a high position in search results. A couple of good article sites to try are of course http://ezinearticles.com and http://www.ideamarketers.com. The good thing with ideamarketers is that articles are not reviewed by editors so they go public immediately. However, make sure articles are within their terms or they will quickly delete it. Repeated inappropriate articles result in account cancellation (I've never had this happen but have known others who have).

Out of all these methods I would say that regular posting of articles supplies the most weightage.

    Sorry for the 'book' LOL

It's such an open question. It depends on the importance of the forum, the blog, the directory, the article directory, etc.

That being said, just by looking at it generically I'd say:

    directory > article > blog > forum

Personally I prefer article marketing as I end up with more links relative to the time spent, although I like to use all of these methods. If you can write a good/newsworthy article then this can make a big difference as other webmasters will use your article as well as it being published in directories.

Distributing a press release is another very good way to get some high quality backlinks.

    Cheers,

  • Iowa girl and also Suzanne make really good points.

First as Iowagirl said, the question is very open as there are so many variables.

If you were to submit a unique article to each directory then that's very hard to beat. But few people are organised enough to do that long term and consistently. You see... one article going out to a thousand directories might get 1,000 links but Google will only index a handful of those because it's a straight out case of duplicate content.

Make the article titles all unique but all still with your keyword, have spun content in the article as well as in the resource box and ..hey...then you're onto something powerful.

I'd agree also with Suuzanne that on balance articles probably give the most bang for the buck, mainly because they are viral. A forum post is seldom viral at all and yet it's an amazingly quick indexer if used well.

You'll hate me for saying this but use them all to the extent you can but if you are pressed for time and money get your articles out there and point to them from your own social bookmarking sites...again few people would do that and it makes the world of difference

Article submission is great for backlinks because you take advantage of the high PR the article directories have. Genius
