My site is in the Top 5 on Yahoo, Bing and Altavista.

Is this a good sign that soon my site will be Top 5 on Google too?

Right now it's not even in the Top 100 on Google while it's a leading site on all the other major search engines.

All depends on what you did to achieve the ranking in the others.

    - Your site could be banned in Google
    - Your optimization is friendly to all except Google

Would need more info on the site to tell. PM me if you want me to have a quick look and give you my opinion.

I don't think it means anything for your ranking in Google. Personally, I have found all of my pages to rank higher in yahoo and Bing. IMO they are easier to game, specifically with on-page optmization.

      Well, here is a summary:
      • Site is manually SEO-ed, the optimization is not perfect, but OK
      • Site has around 8-10 backlinks on the internet
      • Site is not banned on Google - it's indexed but not in the first 100
      • Site is Top 5 on all other search engines

Unfortunately, I think you are right.
Or at least all signs point in that direction. Google is a different beast.

I still hope that doing well on Yahoo, Bing and Altavista can generate some traffic for me. If I recall correctly, these three search engines combined have about 30% of the market.
The remaining 70% is all Google.
      Damn...

Never met this situation before, my websites often got ranked on Google first then get ranks on others. How long have your website submitted? Maybe it just need time to get ranked on Google. As to rank top 5, well, AOL's search result is something you can consider.

usually I rank in Google faster than any other search engine, in my opinion Google is now the most responsive search engine when it comes to ranking, indexing, crawling, etc.

Kinda weird.... It seems that you site is banned from Google or something like bad thing. You will want to find the reason about this situation.

For a bunch of my auto-blogs I'm in the top 3 on Live, Yahoo etc - but 500+ on Google.

Google Panda made the serps a hell of a lot more diverse compared to Yahoo/Live etc.

    Is this a new site?

We've noticed that it's common for our sites to get ranked on Yahoo/Bing before being ranked on Google. Just because you get ranked on one doesn't mean you'll necessarily get ranked on the other. (Unless it's true about Microsoft copying Google's search results in the lawsuit...but I digress)

I think you have duplicate contents on your site that's why it happened to your site. Dude you can dodge yahoo and Bing but not Google. Because Google is a smart animal. Anyway! Just post unique articles on your site with proper on-page SEO & then do Offpage SEO in order to get good rankings in Google.

I don't think I have duplicate content. Every single article on my site is written by me. I don't do article spinning, content theft or other bull**** like that. I personally write all of my stuff and I enjoy every minute of it.
In other words, the content on my site is 100% unique, manually written by me and manually SEO-ed by me.

I do have a question about duplicate content, though. But I guess I will start a separate topic about that.
