    Louise,

One method for picking micro niche keywords involves using the google keyword tool (make sure you're signed in to get the full list of suggestions), or whatever your preferred tool is, and typing in terms that people would use to find solutions to a problem, e.g. "acne treatment". But you would want to find more specific and unusual problems (believe me...there are millions of them!)

Then analyze the top 3 competitors in google for that term. That's KW research for micro niches in a nutshell. If you're monetizing with Adsense, eCPC and search volume is obviously important. Actually, search volume is important in either case. :p

Here's how you pick up micro niche keywords. Go to Google.com and type your main keyword in the search box. You'll see a list of keywords that show up in a dropdown list.

These keywords can be highly profitable because most of these do not even show up in the Google Adwords Keyword Tool. You can also add "a,b,c,d..." at the end of your main keyword to drill down to a deeper level.

Personally I do webfighters method with a tweak, then going to the google keyword tool with those i found and start searching each, I look at "exact phrases" that have roughly 700-1000 local US monthly searches. That what I consider to be micro niche. Check matt carters blog.

What I will do to expand my root keywords:

    1. Go to Amazon and find related topic, open the table of content of the matching topic books, write down all related keyword terms.

    2. Use "~" sign in Google search to find more related terms, for example "~weight ~loss" in Google will gives you a lot of related terms: ~weight ~loss - Google Search

Like weight control, weight management, fat loss... see the bold keywords in SERP.

    3. Use Google Suggestion / Super Suggestor / Keyword Sniper Pro / Keyword Ninja to extract long tail keywords from the root keywords.

    4. Send all long tail keywords into Market Samurai and filter only those with high search low competition.

    5. Prepare content for each keywords and post those content to your website.

    6. build backlinks to each content

Your traffic will increase using this simple method, you can scale up and get virtually unlimited traffic when you increase your keyword targeted content...

Going to the Google Related keywords will give you ideas. Copy all the keywords and paste in to the Google Keyword tool, if you have signed up for adwords the better because G will give you deeper information. You can filter the results by competition and by CPC,select "exact" and click search, you will get keywords which you can download to an excel sheet and start writing immediately.

Use google keyword tool . If you see a good kw ( 2000+ exact searches , cpc +1$ etc) , do a quick search on google and see the competition ( mst be less than 1.000.000 results).
