Here is an interesting article about Google using a personal credibility rating, attributed to you, as part of its search ranking algorithm:

That is a very interesting article.

I love learning about Google ranking factors.

For instance I didn't realise that traffic coming to your site from other sources is a Google ranking factor.

This is a nice stepping stone for those of us that are using Google+. Of course we can't really compete with big companies who have an army of people running the site and optimize it.

But in a smaller market, where you are the expert of a niche, I can see that you benefit big time. Google profile is now Google plus. So according to the video, you can add "rel=author" to your backlink that is pointing to your plus account. Hence, people can find out more about you, and you can build more follower on Google+.
Then when these people +1 your link or article, it will spread and go viral. Of course I can see this will take a lot of time also.

  • I would definitely pay attention to the Google +1 stuff... they keep hinting as to it's importance in search engine results - big impact on SEO.

      Hi HomeBusinessMastery,

I don't think they have hinted that it will effect rankings, only what information will be displayed along with the current information, both organic and sponsored results. You will be able to see anyone in your circle of contacts that has recommended a listing, I don't think they have hinted at anything beyond that.

I've seen the profile pics appearing but wondered how they do that. Gonna give it a go now.
