Google's NEW rel=author

I don't know if this was posted already or not. But since I always start threads about my problems and asking for your advice, I thought I would post something interesting I saw. I don't really know how recent this new update is, but I have never seen it talked about on this forum or anywhere else. I'm guessing it's from the new Panda update.
It is the new rel=author links on your website. Matt Cutts explains it here:
Basically, you make a Google profile and add a link to your site on that profile. Then, on your website, you make a link to that profile. They recommend you put it on every page of your website, so I added to my footer.
