    After using social bookmarking for quite sometime now i have realized that the main contribution of this method is to gain traffic for your website, the secondary benefit is having to create backlinks to your website. For the disadvantages, well i can't think of any as of the moment.

      Yes, it is a great way to gain popularity, rankings, and traffic. I use social bookmarking on every page of all my websites.

      A great website is SocialADR.com and for $7 you can get 100 social bookmarks, but the great thing about it, is that it comes from other ip's because other users are actually bookmarking it for you. So all the bookmarks aren't all coming from you!

      So it looks like other people really do "like" your site and not just yourself which looks more natural to SE's, which I believe Google notices, because I have seen a difference since using that program and using Onlywire.

      I suggest you use it and see for yourself.

    Ever since the Google panda update the main attraction from Social Bookmarks has decreased in value. Google mays less attention to links from Social Bookmarking and only values a few directories like DMOZ and article sits like Ezine in the top priority. But stil it can't hurt to have links that route back to your site.

    Do it manually, do not go for automatic or any kind of software. (you can always hire someone at affordable price)

    Instead of going for hundreds and hundreds of social bookmarking go for top 20 or top 40.
