1&1 Webhost - Is It Safe To Use Their Application?

I have always accessed my domains administration through web browser, but recently i have noticed that 1&1 offer their 1&1 EasyLogin application to access your control panel from desktop by bypassing web browser which will save time and be more convenient.

When i decided to install applciation, i read through Terms And Conditions and it was stated that 1&1 takes no responsibility for cause damage or financial losses.

So let me git it straight, 1&1 are responsible for control panel but not for their application? Okay that only tells me to stay away from application and stick with the old way.

Do you use 1&1 as domain registrar or host? Do you have their application and are satisfied so far with it? If yes, do you think it is worth the risk?

    Hi Boris_yo,

This is really off topic for this forum.

I think it is customary for a software developer to add disclaimers. They cannot control what happens on your computer and they don't want to take responsibility for things beyond their control, I see nothing sinister in that.

Where do you suggest this question should belong then?

I have a doubt about this software because who knows if it is stable and won't cause damage to your domains? What if it will get out of control and do damage to my account?

        Hi Boris_yo,

The software is from your hosting company, right? They already have access to all your stuff from their end, right?

Sure, you could have a hacker break into your computer and get to your stuff through that program. However, they can just as easily install a keylogger and get to your stuff through the web. The disclaimer in that software is probably the same or very similar to the disclaimer in the TOS for your hosting.

The bottom line is that the software gives you quicker & easier access to manage your website, but if you can't sleep at night due to worrying about it, then that convenience may not be worth to you. Go with your preference and don't worry so much.
