Doubled Adsense Earnings...

That's what happened when I jumped from ranking 4th to 2nd. This is for a pretty competitive keyword, and this particular site is not a mini-site so to speak.

Traffic is up about 60% as it looks right now (limited data).

I've always heard the difference between 1 and 2 is big, 2 and 3 is too, etc. I guess in a way it's nice to know that seems to be true.

Now I have to figure out how to get the 400 or so pages of my soon to be mini adsense empire ranking number 1.

you can say that first position takes roughly about 40% of traffic, 2. 20%, 3. 10%, 4. 7% so yes, at the top difference is HUGE

The OP went from 4th to second and only increased sales my 60%.

According to the chart above he should have gotten almost a 300% increase.

That doesn't mean that he increased hes ranking on all google domains, maybe on only the one he was watching (.com) + other factors like google SERP randomness + location specific + user recommandation specific factors to consider

If you don't mind me asking, are you currently just using BMR to get the rankings for your site or did you push it into the top 2 with a mixture of link building?

It's about 80% BMR and 20% Article marketing robot. I think I have maybe 25 social bookmarks as well.

I just recently did a 100 posts BMR blast to push it from from 4 to 2.

The site has never been sandboxed and never had any major drops. Hopefully I can get past that pesky Wikipedia page that's sitting in slot 1...

Wow, that is quite a few BMR posts, I have never done a batch that big, but I also avoid some of the more competitive terms out there. I use both the BMR and AMR as well as a host of other things, so you have me intrigued. How competitive was the term that you pushed up rankings for like this?

In regards to the difference between #4 and #2, yeah it is insane. I lost two positions from #2 to #4/#5 a couple of months ago and the site lost around $200/day just in adsense earnings so it was a huge impact.

Most people never realize what a difference those couple of spots make, but they really do. I have found going from #2 to #1 to be considerably different as well. It blows my mind a bit that people just do a search and click on the top result. When I search for personal stuff, I always scan the first couple of pages of the search results before I decide which link to click on.

As long as you get above the fold and have a great title (most are mundane) you will make money.

I have found that first position gets about 38-40%, and 2nd place gets about 12.5%.

That's just my findings although factors such as title tags etc can make a different to who the searcher clicks on first.

Of the total searches made via Google (and maybe other search engines).

If a keyword phrase gets 1,000 searches per month, then 1st position by my findings would get 380 - 400 of those clicks.

Hope that has made it clear.
