Hi everybody,

I have a few content-rich Facebook pages (fan pages), each devoted to a well designated niche...

Lately, I started to post "notes" in my pages, after I was told they have a good chance to rank well in Google...

Does anyone has a good experience with FB notes ? Would you mind giving some tips ?

Thanks, Roni

That's a good question. I don't know if I've ever noticed a facebook note in the search results.

  • FB notes are a good marketing tool if you them properly. They are just like a blog posts. You can update them and also have a good commenting system, people can even subscribe to your Notes RSS feed. when adding a new note, you should write the Title and Subject to be better indexed by Google

I've just started to create "notes" of my FB fanpage, as quite a few people are dominating page one for various electronic product keyword phrases mainly promoting Amazon, so it certainly seems to work and unless Google or Facebook change this great tool, it's a very effective way in which to promote both psychical and digital products and it normally takes three weeks in which to get these kind of pages indexed with Google.

Facebook notes seem to rank very highly. If you take any random product with a unique reference and Google it, the likelyhood is that a Facebook notes page will be on page one of Google.

Can you show us a FB page dominating the SERPs for a decent keyword?

I'm not saying it can't be done, just that I've never seen anyone do that. I guess a better question is why would they do that, instead of ranking their own site/page?

I do it for my local clients. It is in addition to their main website not instead of their main website. I try to get 3-4 of their web properties onto the first page of the SERP for each keyword. Those properties can be a blog, facebook page, youtube video, etc.

Same thing would make sense for an IM niche. Try to get more of the page one clicks by having multiple sites in the top 10.

          Makes sense,

At first I thought they were talking about only ranking a FB page & nothing else.

        Hey Yukon,

It is a very effective strategy. Check my other post the reason, why and how it works. It works and I have done it too. For a sample (not my work) search "Dental Marketing Online". Check the Facebook page with good rankings.

Yes, I have seen Facebook notes ranking in search engines and even some dominated the top spot. I have Googled some PC troubleshootinh (I forgot the keyword) and Google returned me with an FB note from a certain FB page. I thing Facebook will play a major role in IM in the future if it manages to stay active.

Facebook provides a nofollow links so it will not helps you in getting rank. Fb notes will only helps you when keyword is less competitive.

This begs the question....why on earth are you trying to
rank FB notes? Accidentally is one thing. But how can
you rank FB notes accidentally over something else
for anything worth a darn? So, why go to the trouble
of ranking FB notes? Man I don't have enough time in
the day to work on real stuff to rank....let alone
something like FB notes. Even if I did. I wouldn't.

If they rank quickly and easily, why not? FB notes are definitely something I'm going to test in the near future, and if they rank relatively easily for low-mid range keywords I'll outsource it.

          Hey Guys,

Does anyone know how long it takes for Facebook notes to get ranked in Google without building any links to the note?

I created this Facebook note on 04/11/2011 after reading a few good thinks about Facebook notes; What Is Protein Deficiency And How Can You Avoid It? | Facebook

However, 10 days later it is still not showing up in Google. I've searched the Internet for information on how long Facebook notes take to rank but unfortunately cannot find anything.

Would love to hear the thoughts of anyone who has some experience ranking Facebook notes.

          Cheers,

          Tom

I have created a few FB notes and they aren't showing up in Google at all. I have created zero backlinks.
Can anyone clarify how long it takes to show?

            Many thanks in advance

I was looking at a guide today for ranking easily in google, I could not see the website in the search results, but did see an FB notes page ranking well ( the search term was milwaukee 1676-6 hole hawg )
Did a bit of investigation, and ended up on this thread.

Was not aware of facebook notes before this morning

Seems as though the time making it happen would be better spent doing something else... based on what I read in this post's replies and my personal experiences.

You may well be right Jon. However, there are quite a few positive responses in this thread so I wouldn't write them off just yet. Plus, I have already created the note so it really isn't going to cost me any more time.

Anyone else got any experience with ranking Facebook notes? I'm not so interested in how they convert and perform - I just want to know from past experience how long Google takes to rank them.

I'm not so sure, Abdul. I have seen FB pages rank high for certain keywords. Frustratingly, I have created about 10 FB notes, about a week ago and still have not seen them index.

Have you done anything such as pinging them or bookmarking them to increase the chance of them getting indexed?

I think for the purpose of SEO you're probably better off to try to get your FB PAGE ranked rather than just a particular part of it.

I'm not sure why people are saying it works and then in the same breath saying they've created several notes which are not ranking. That means it doesn't work.

Could someone let us know of a search term where we can actually see this for ourselves? Because I've never seen FB notes in any serps.

I am not sure about notes, but you can rank a Facebook page with active content and a fan base pretty well in search engines with few quality backlinks. Facebook pages are assigned an initial high PR because of Facebook linking structure and then each fan to your page whether as human or another Facebook page counts as an internal link. Then think as each of your posts as a page for this structure. Now, the only missing element is external backlinks which work pretty well on this High PR active content structure. Because notes are similar to pages, I assume you can rank them with on-page and/or off-page techniques as well.

I have good experience with rank FanPages in Google, they need a lot less backlinks than normal website because of high trust rank of FB domain.

FanPage is like any other "website" publish unique content on them makes the stream of visitors will also grow not only from FB but from Searche Engines as well.

I would say it is possible to rank FB note. This is because I have seen some FB notes appear on Google page 1, however for very low competition keyword (in my case)

That being said, I would probably say it is possible, but for medium or high competition it could be a different story.
