It depends what you mean by "article sites".

The value of the backlink(s) tends to be proportional to the relevance of the site to your own site.

"Article directory" backlinks are very low value indeed: they're non-context-relevant, PR-0 backlinks. Even before Google's latest algorithm-change devalued the article directories so much, SEO textbook authors were saying that you'd typically need something between 50,000 and 100,000 of those backlinks to give you the same backlinking value as one backlink from a relevant authority site.

It's all been discussed here very recently, anyway: this thread, and this thread, and this thread will all help you, I think.

I usually do some backlinking to my articles after I have submitted them to article directories and it really helps to get articles rank higher in the search results and for extra visibility articles also have better syndication rate.

If you are thinking about getting backlinks from article directories, then those are generally PR-0 and most importantly non-indexed links at the first place. You can however create a content on your site and after the content in your site gets indexed, you can put the same article (Probably with a different title) in some of the best article directories such as ezinearticles, articlebase, goarticles etc. You may get some good traffic as you will put links to some other articles of your website in those.

For quality backlinks, I would suggest you to find relevant niche sites related to your website. Ask the webmaster to make a guest post for him/her and include a link to your site in the author re-source box. I'll do it be the site is do-follow or no-follow, in case, you are skeptic, choose the ones that are do-follow. A lot of webmasters love free content and thus you can get some good links.

Here's a great thread on a clever way to use Article sites for linkwheels:

    http://www.warriorforum.com/adsense-...e-ranking.html

Towards the end of that thread, the user satrap lists these instant approval article sites:

    GoArticles
    ArticleBlast
    ArticlesBase
    ArticleRich
    SooperArticles

Some more great article sites are:

    Xomba
    Snipsly
    InfoBarrel

    Hope that helps!

Is it still worth enough to get backlink from article directories? Or do you prefer to get backlinks from other methods? Thanks.
