Converting website, uppercase to lowercase URLs

Guys

I`m converting a website from Joomla to Wordpress (been using Joomla for years, started using WP couple of months ago and I love it)

Anyway, one issue is that this site (250 pages) in Joomla has Upper case letters in the urls, for example domain.com/Catagory/Article-Title

Obviously, WP converts these to lower case

The site is a few years old and gets good traffic, I'm concerned about this issue as I dont want to lose traffic or ranking.

I know in Joomla using SH404 I can simply set up 301's and thus it would not be a problem (I dont know if thats possible in WP, it could be a pain in the butt as well)

So, question is, should I worry and seek to rectify this, or should I just carry on and ensure URL's are the same but not worry about upper V lower case letters?!

Thanks for any help

Hey, you might want to try asking this on a programming or server setup/htaccess forum.

It ought to be possible to 301-forward all the upper-case version of your urls to the lower-case ones with literally one line of code in the .htaccess file. But that regular-expression/.htaccess stuff gives me nightmares, I wouldn't venture to give you any advice on that, but you will find some gurus on the right forums.

      Hey, not at all!

I`ve built dozens of sites in Joomla, and it is great indeed.

Very, very flexible and incredibly scalable its powerfull stuff.
SEO is a breeze (using SH404) in fact the best system I`ve used.

BUT, I`ve really fallen in love with Wordpress, its quite nimble in comparison to Joomla. For small blogs, sites I¬d say use WP, but for anything needing a bit more functionality I¬d go for Joomla.

Directorys spring to mind, I¬ve built a few directorys in Joomla and they are great, I`ve yet to find anything in WP that would do the same. Though, I`ve only been on WP for 8 weeks so still learning.

I develop sites for clients and where I can I will now do this in Wordpress as none technical users can get a bit swamped by Joomla, WP is certainly easier to pick up, just that I dont think it is as scalable as Joomla (at the moment!)
