So like, I am kinda confused as to what let to the drop in my SERPs for many keywords. For a few months I was ranking for highly competitive keyword on page 1 (#8-10). As for backlinking, I used to create 4-5 links to my webpage with PR6 page links. Once in.. 2 weeks or so. All of a sudden, I see that i'm terribly dropped for many keywords. Like.. at page 9.

Also, another weird thing I noticed was that even though I have dropped for many kw, I'm not ranking anymore for those articles directed at those keywords!

Example: If my keyword is dog training, instead of ranking for domain/dog-training, I'm now ranking for some other keyword, altogether. Niche is same, but keywords are still different. What the hell? Looks like my site is totally jumbled up.

Last but not the least, whenever I've backlinked at non-spammy sites with high PR, I think most of the time I've kept the same anchor text. I have around 42 links for that specific webpage for which I was building links lately. And the site is about 5 months old. Could THIS be the problem? What do you guys think could be the problem leading to drop in SERPs AND at the same time, ranking for some other random keyword altogether.

Very difficult to pinpoint one specific reason for the sudden drop in rankings. I had a site that was suddenly kicked to page 7 from position 2 on the 1st page. It still hasn't recovered.

The thing about that site is that I did not update content for over 2 months and I stopped building links for a month. The site is a thin 7 page site including About Us, Privacy, and Contact pages. The other thing about that site is it is over optimized for one keyword. All 4 pages of content targets a derivative of the main keyword like:

    dog training
    dog training courses
    dog training classes
    dog training certification

If you find any similarities then you might have the same problem as I have, but another aspect you should look into is whether your links are still intact - if they are blog comments have they moved onto a page that has no PR or did the mods just wipe out all comments?... this is common for auto-approve blogs.
