So, I've heard rumours that by having a reasonable quantity of Google's +1s on each of your individual web pages (and possibly Facebook?) will have some noticeable impact on your SEO rankings.

What do you guys think?

I dont know about "noticeable", i really dont hope so. There is a lot of fraud going on with website owners forcing people to click the buttons - to be honest it ****es me off.

Search results should NOT be able to be manipulated in such ways...but that stupid +1 button provides lots of ways to manipulate. I dont like it.

Google has itself confirmed that "Google will study the clicks on +1 buttons as a signal that influences the ranking and appearance of websites in search results. The purpose of any ranking signal is to improve overall search quality. For +1's and other social ranking signals, as with any new ranking signal, we'll be starting carefully and learning how those signals are related to quality."

I am sure that Google +1 clicks will have an impact on SEO. The Google +1 feature is definitely a shift from traditional SEO to social SEO.

I think it only affects people in your network at the moment, although I've seen some statements contradicting that view.

I'm not quite sure about people in my same network but it works for me myself or people who +1 your site, eventually the sites that you +1 tends to show up with higher rank during google search with matching keywords. Once you logout from your google account and hit refresh, it's gone.
