question on unwanted backlinks

hi- I know who wouldn't want any and all links, bear with me. Just looking at my web urchin stats and saw a couple of visits linking from the domain 'black hat x.com' - checked it out and its clearly on the dark side content.

Another domain I had some concern about is 'smazat.ru' -which I'm guessing might be some sort of spam operation.
My questions:
1. Can I be penalized for 'evil' inbound links even though I certainly didn't ask for them?
2. Any way known to get rid of such links
and 3. Anybody have any familiarity with these domains or any thoughts on them?

Thanks, maybe not the usual type question here..

may be someone else submitted your link in those sites, to prevent your site from this kind of activities you need to do online reputation management. i don't know to much in brief but you can search more in google about that.

Just appreciate the backlinks. Google does not penalize you for who links to you. They know that if they did it would lead to people trying to take down competition by linking to them from unsavory sites, or spam linking to them. You have no control over who links to you, and Google knows that. At worst, they will carry no weight, and have no effect. At best, they may give you a boost. Enjoy.

I've known people who've tried to take down a competitor a notch or two by spamming them with 1000's low quality profile links etc.
Backfired on them completely as it only strengthened the targeted domains.
