Had 200 Facebook Likes, now page has 1 Facebook Like! WTF?!

I have a wordpress blog and not one, but two of my blog posts had the FB Likes wiped out.

Why is Facebook taking my Likes away???

I didn't revise the post or do anything. They are just going from 200+ Likes one minute, then 1 Like the next. Is this a flaw in Facebook or am I being penalized for something?

Did your URL structure change? Because depending on how your Facebook plugin is working, this could cause such a shift.

For example, you could have a Like-box for your global site, example.com, on each page. But also a like box for example.com/post1 which will record all the likes for that URL. But if your URL changes ever so slightly (example.com/post1a), the Facebook plugin won't be able to find any Likes in the database because the URL is different.

Weird, its something technical like Nero said about the url structure in FB algorithm, I doubt all people unliked your site, its something new, try contacting FB about it, open a thread there and keep us updated.

Did you buy the Likes? If so chances are good the accounts used to pad the count got found out and deleted by Facebook.

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

2 possibility. Paid like is one of it and they other will be changing of url. If there's a minor different with url, it changes the whole like counting =)

No I don't buy FB Likes. But I do lock some blog pages and force readers to like certain (privilege) pages. Once they Like, Tweet, or +1 the (privilege) page, they can then see the content.

I didn't personally change the url structure. I wonder if it's a facebook plugin issue.

    Hi,
I had this one too, i had like 30 likes than refreshed the page and it was changed to 1 refreshed again, it was another number. Do not worry you did not lose your likes, probably the query was not received fully

I have noticed a lot of glitches w/ the facebook like stats and what not. Hard telling but they definitely have some errors they need to fix in their coding.

This is mind boggling. Facebook must be changing some code when you refreshed the page.

The "likes" disappeared for over a week. It wasn't a short glitch. On one page the Likes came back, the other page the Likes didn't come back yet.

    Facebook is quirky.

Yep it can manifest this character at times...
I usually notice my friend count vary...increases and decreases...and without me having prior activity...
