Why would the age of the site matter?

My suggestion is add backlink gradually...too much in short time will make sandbox for your site.

Are you kidding me? After 3 months, I'll already have enough! LOL!!!

Seriously, you need to put a sign on your site:

"Please tell me if you link to me. I must stop all links at 10 per day.
    Please don't break the rules."

Those political sites rock, no matter what side you are on. I have had
a Sarah Palin site since Sept 2008. It gets boatload of traffic, from
    both sides!

Age doesn't matter. I start getting my sites links right away so that they get indexed.

Start building links gradually as everyone else stated. Keep it steady and you will grow over time.

Wow I have got 3 expert opinion here! Yukon, Mike and Paul. So Now I feel relaxed. But my parallel question. Then why some SEO companies are saying

"Site must be at least 2/3 etc. months old"?

Kok Choon has a SEO service site Guaranteed Website Ranking. He is well known here in WF and other IM Forums. I see he is giving same condition(domain age at least 2 months) on new sites for SEO!!

I can share my personal experience ( as we also handle various seo projects) for any new sites in the first 2 months one should make sure all the onpage areas of the site also checking broken links, proper keywords strategy, RSS feed submission etc and to make the website perfect for the promotion. To me unless you are clear about the marketing strategy and also check how google react in the initial phase it hard to get success. When you are all clear then start the backlink creation effectively. This is my personal view and what i learnt from my past experience.

I bought some spam back links once on a new site, it took a while to recover. Nobody seems to be giving clear examples of which sites to use to make quality back links.

      GAH!!!! Why? Seriously? ~face palm~

Don't blast a bunch of links at a site when you first create it; hell, don't do it at all IMO.

Personally I use high PR blog networks to create my backlinks. I never see the "Google Dance" and the pages on my site continue to rise and rise in the ranks on a continuous basis ( that is the ones that aren't already in the top spots on the first page ).

Going after large quantities of backlinks just doesn't really cut it anymore; unless of course they are all high quality backlinks.

Come on now, have you not read a thing here?

To others...where do you people get this stuff from?

Build links slowly? Man no wonder you people fail. You come up
with all sorts of BS, believe it, then wonder why others leave
      you in the dust.

In fact, why not just keep your site form being indexed for 6 months.
Then, after 6 months and the coast is clear, get your site indexed,
      and start backlinking.

That'll show that mean ol' google you really mean business!

  • Yeah, age doesn't matter. You should start link building slowly though. You don't want Google to ban you for abnormal behavior.

No SEO professional would only accept sites of a certain age. That is ridiculous.

Anyone putting that kind of restriction out there is just a backlink builder. They are building crummy backlinks, so they don't want a brand new site.

There is some GREAT advice in here (and some not so great advice that could get you sand-boxed never to return).

For me, if I'm building a site that I want to be around for a while, it's all about balance. So once the initial site is indexed, we add a steady flow of relevant content and link accordingly. But really, I've found that the quality of the links is far more important than the quantity - and I've ranked sites top 3 on Google with far fewer links than the competition - and when we looked at it, we found the main differentiating factor was the quality of our links vs. theirs.

    Hope that helps.

I think its not a problem to start the link building process right away, but its bette to wait 10-30 days.

All of my websites gets indexed 1st time in google only through high pr backlinks. I do not manually submit my website to google. Instead of that, just write 1 blog post for the home page and start submitting them to high pr homepage network. Thus from day 1, i start building high pr links.
