I've seen so much info lately on SEO and i'll go into the warrior for hire section and see something like,

100 PR1 backlinks for $5 Boost your site to page #1 NOW!!!

I see something like that 10 times a day now and then I'll go into another section and people will be wondering why there site isnt ranking and people respond with 'get more edu and .gov backlinks' which of course isnt but bad...

I have seen nothing on getting relevant backlinks, backlinks that actually will boost your site more than you think. Although trusted backlinks and other high PR backlinks are of course needed...relevant backlinks are most important in my mind because, it shows google that your not just farming for backlinks but actually posting on sites related to yours and I think google takes that into account more than we think. I even went on this site and searched 'relevant backlinks' and I barley saw any topics on it.

So overall, Everybody should go get relevant backlinks right now and maybe take a break from buying xrumer blasts and what not.

    Great post Keen creations!!!!

Where are the purchased backlinks coming from? Link Farms? That certainly won't help your site rank any better. In fact it may hurt it.

I agree that getting RELEVANT backlinks is essentail and it is going to take some work on your part.

A good trick is to get backlinks on the sites that are beating you in the serps

Interesting article. One successful marketer even said that irrelevant links can harm your sites position in the SERP's although that would seem a bit too easy for competitors to build irrelevant links.

Where is the best place to build relevant links? Is it high pr blog commenting?

Is link exchanging with sites in your niche with a high PR a good way to get relevant links or are these types of links given less value by G?

Backlinking is probably the hardest part of SEO... the trick is to stay vigilant, build relationships, and avoid these domain trust killing link farms. SEOMoz actually had a really good article on it: Throw Away Your Form Letters (or Five Principles to Better Outreach Link Building) | SEOmoz

Relevant link / content - In my own experience, relevant anchor link is the key to ranking, but not relevant content. There are still no evidence or whatever that relevant content on your backlink page would really help, I have tested that many times...

Other factors like domain age, PR, IP diversity and relevant anchor link had more ranking impact than relevant content.

Your question why a site with 50 backlinks beat the site with 1000 backinks - that's not conclusive. You see - any authority site like wikipedia will rank well for keywords that no one is targeting. However, when you are the first one who target it, you can easily outrank the authority site, so what?

It doesn't mean you beat them, because if wikipedia receive 1/3 of the amount of your backlinks for that keyword, you'll lose because of your site lack of authority, and it doesn't matter if your backlinks are from relevant content pages or not.

I'm stating this from experience, you can do some experiment - relevant content doesn't help much because Google don't have enough resources to analyze them.

However, relevant keywords and content on your own site, like creating SEO SILO does help your site rank for that targeted keyword(s), see my article here: How To Increase Google Ranking and Traffic With SEO SILO Content?

If you buy backlinks from someone on Fiverr you'll likely get thousands of worthless XRummer links to sites that are for sale. I've done it twice now (got tricked the second time). They last about a day! What a waste.

Don't be an idiot...does it matter how old the article is? Do you think that google has stopped counting relevant backlinks?

I've seen very little show that the 'relevance' of the page actually matters, and I do a lot of backlinking. If it does matter, it's pretty minimal and difficult to detect. It's not some magic pill that's going to boost your rankings like crazy.

Of course its not a magic pill like my title kind of states but...It does matter more than a minimal amount.
