Using Tiered Links and Link Wheels

Hi folks! I have read an article that tiered links and link wheels are two of the most powerful backlinking strategies today (said the author).

I'm quite familiar with link wheels. So, can so please explain to me, or if possible show me a diagram of tier linking?

Is it really effective? Or just a myth? If it's not effective, can you please explain it to me?

Or other information or stuffs related to tier links are greatly appreciated.

Hoping for your "informative" replies guys!

Thanks

Tiered linking is when you have many lower easy to aquire links (tier 2) pointing to a page like an article or blog that then links to your money site (tier 1) you can of course add more tiers to the mix but it requires many many links to be built.

As for the effectiveness I can't comment as the only real practicle way of creating the tier 2 links is by using automated spam software.

Oh an example of tiered link building would be to post an article on a good article database which links back to your money site and then blast loads of blog/forum/bookmarks etc at the article...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think doing this might hurt your site.

So far I found 2 tiers link very effective for me, may be a 3 tiers will do better, but most of my project are 2 tiers or mostly 3 tiers.

Do a image Google search for the keyword "linkwheel", you'll find hundreds of examples of an image.

Having said that, as KK mentioned, 2 and sometimes 3 tiers is all that you'll need for link wheels. They are effective as long as its not the only type of linkbuilding you are doing.

Remember, diversity is key with linkbuilding. So a mixture of linkwheels, high PR links, social bookmarking and more will help you achieve the best rankings possible.
