Would embedding other peoples YouTube videos onto my website or blog be beneficial for traffic purposes?

I quote this from topic http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post1697886

Here's the deal.

You can use any youtube video you want by just embedding it on your site. I'm not talking about downloading it and copying it to your own server. I'm talking about simply taking the embed code to display on a site. There is nothing illegal about this - even if you are doing it for marketing.

If Joe Marketer does not want me using his videos on my site, he can actually block within his account so that his video will not display anywhere else but youtube.

It couldn't hurt, and that quote is correct; there is nothing wrong with embedding the video using the youtube code.

thanks, yes I put that quote in just so this thread doesn't become a debate about the moral issues or copyright issues.

That's correct, the publicly available embed codes means it can be used anywhere on the internet.

I don't really see how embedding Youtube videos is really going to help you get traffic to your site apart from giving you easy content that allows you to create more pages.

When using a YouTube embed code, you are actually providing a backlink to the owner of that video.

But, yes, depending on your SEO techniques, it can still pull in visitors.

In a couple of test blogs I had some positive results using videos along with written content.

It was not anything earth-shattering but it seemed to add content and I made the visitors stay longer on the site. Still, not great.

Google loves video- notice how many top searches have video on-page along with text?

Let's say you have a site about guitars and a page about how to change your guitar strings. If you embed a YouTube video that's optimized for those keywords, it can definitely help your on-page seo.

If you have the time I would recommend creating your own videos, that way you won't be losing visitors if the video has a good call to action. Make your own video and optimize it for the keywords you want your page to rank for, and include a good call to action like "sign up for our mailing list above" you should see good results.

I don't know how you are going to get more traffic with that.

But yes, you can make your visitors stay longer on your site with that technique.

Putting a video on your site can improve your ranking as visitors will stay longer on your page which google is using in their algorithm more so now days, they measure the bounce rate back to the serps to see this.
