brandnames and adsense

Hello,

I would like to share my problem here and appreciate if you can give me a response. I bought a micro niche for adsense and didn't know that its domain name is a brandname officially registered. The official brandname has a website like brandname.com and I have the brandname.net

I figured out this after getting the website...

I would like to ask if it is against adsense TOS to have ads served by adsense for such website. I read the TOS and didn't find explicity anything that mention such problem.. as I'm not a native english man.. so I'm asking practionners here about such situation.

Thank you very much.

As strict as adsense is, I would ASSUME that its against their TOS

even if its not the brand owner probably has a copywrite on the name, so they will send you a nasty letter, This happens most of the time, some brands dont do this but most of them get nasty and demand the domain back

I think having a disclosure on site will help you with it. On the disclosure, just tell every piece of information you want to tell to your visitors, everything has to be fact based though, else you'll arrive at a more complicated situation.

From reading Google's Adsense Policies, my understanding is that they do not stop Adsense ads from showing on sites with domain names infringing the copyright of a company or product name, but only until they receive a complaint.

If they receive a complaint, they will stop the ads and will only allow the ads to show again if they receive a reversal notice from the complainer.

But why take a chance? You might spend your time and effort building a site, indexing and ranking it, to have to give it all up in the end.

And yes, the trademark owner can demand that you hand the domain over to them.
