Cookie based adsense ads showing on your niche site?

I have been researching niche based sites to target to put up with articles and content with the intent to load up adsense ads. I am targeting high dollar keywords but this is what I am wondering.

Arent most of the adsense ads nowadays cookie based on the visitor/customers side meaning that if they goto my high dollar (lets say auto donation) niche site wont adsense display ads relevant to their recent searches? For instance if the visitor was searching birdhouses before he visited my auto donation site wont the ads on my niche auto donation site be showing his relevant ads to his interests and not my intended high cpc ads on my site?

The reason I ask is because many times I will be on a site and see relevant ads to my recent searches that have nothing to do with the site I am on and figured it was the google adsense cookies displaying these ads on the site that I was on.

Any help would be great as I dont want to spend all this time researching these niches only to have low cost clicks from the cookie based ads on the client/visitors side, if that is the case I would do a more static clickbank or set amazon affiliate site.

    You can turn cookie based adsense ads on and off I think. Also, even if it's on, your adsense will still show at least half relevant ads and are probably more likely to click them. Sometimes results in a higher click through rate.

    You mean turn the cookies off from a visitor level right? I was wondering if there was a way to control the ads being displayed from a publisher side. Your right, I have been testing and I do see out of the 3 ads usually its 1 cookie and 2 specific to the site.

    I tried googling to find a solid answer to this and havent gotten much info.
