Hello, dear Warriors, this is my first thread, so i'm sorry if posted not in the right place. Would appreciate your opinion about 2011 method to find niche keywords. As about last year the some WSO subjects criteria were:
  • Good strong keywords with available LSI keywords
  • Low exact Allintitle (under 10k or better)
  • Low exact "Search" on Google
  • Global exact Search volume 25 - 100 searches per day
Thought, today criteria may be slightly changed, what is the best practice for today keyword research?

I use various methods to find all my keywords first, here are a few
    - Google keyword tool
    - Google Instant
    - SEM Rush
    - Market Samurai
    - Google alerts/Twilerts
    - Alexa
    - Qantcast

Then for analysing. I like to have competition (type keyword into Google with "" or use a tool like Market Samurai) below 150,000 (some say 100,000 but it depends on how much you want to rank that word!).

For searches per day - Global can be irrelevant if doing a specific market, such as a particular country, but if there is volume, I am happy. You can have only 100 searches per month, and still make a nice return if you rank well.

Here is quite an extensive list of what I do - not all always apply.

      Finding hot products

Affiliate spy*- look up Google results
type in XXXX Reviews and see what affiliate products are being promoted in the top ten sites
Banner spy - go to authority sites, and see what banners are being advertised
Alexa*- see traffic trending - search terms being used to find the website
msnbc.com*- see what products are being generated -come back and check ads are still up and same products are still being advertised
Forum reviews - use forums for honest feedback reviews - look for the words they are using to review the products
Clickbank - check the relevant categories - gravity higher than 5 and less than 70 - have at least an initial sale of $20-$25
      CB Engine*- see new products
Google insights - see what products are trending what products are hot check last 90 days for latest trends
Amazon Best Seller and eBay Pulse - best seller and eBay Pulse for latest products that are selling well - check rankings for social proof and that product is selling
eBay Pulse will show popular searches and top stores
Magazines - Zinio - see what headlines are being used

CPA - Offervalut - type your niche in to see different products and CPA offers available - will show you all the different affiliate providers for your niche
Plimus - software products lots of average products kicked off Clickbank have been moved to Plimus
      Pay Dot Com
Nanacast - good marketers are on Nanacast
Commission Junction - show their EPC - good offers
      Linkshare
Share a Sale - show a power rank tool bar
      Neverblue - top CPA network
Private Affiliate Network - less competition - usually run on iDevAffiliate software - to find private networks type for example - weight loss Affiliate Software by iDevAffiliate

      Product launches
      JV Notify Pro
      IMNewswatch
      Warrior Special Forums
Subscribe to newsletters - use a secondary account
      Set up Google Alerts
      CB Engine
      Subscibe to newsletter

      Google alerts / Google reader

For 'buyer keywords', I like to simply go to sites like Amazon, eBay, or Walmart.com to get ideas.
