Does having an exit popup effect your rankings?

    It won't effect anything as far as rankings, unless the code
    is mistaken for something other than a mundane popup.
    They are not exactly user-friendly.

    He talks about pop ups as well in the following video.
    Yeah it's old, but the same should apply now.

    I think he's talking about a pop-up that asks you something like "Are you sure you want to leave the page?" when you're exiting the page, not a pop-under. A lot of sites for clickbank products have them. I'm not sure if they effect rankings but they are annoying.

      Yes, that's why I reiterated that Cutts talks about all pop ups in
      that video, not just pop unders.

      I don't think it matters if you need to click or not.

      If you have seen people swear they got canned bacause of
      a pop up, a little digging will reveal they were doing other
      things that were the cause of a drop in rankings or de-index.

      A mundane popup is a popular tool.

      Clickbank product pages are a non-issue for google anyway.
