which way would go with this?

I found a pretty good niche with low comp. and decent search volume.

I purchased two domains ( the examples below are not mine, or my niche)

emd.us 12k exact match searches example: seobacklinkgenerator.us (not the site or niche, lol)

emd.com 4k exact match searches example: seobacklinksgenerator.com

would i be better off going with the plural form .com and still target the non plural keyword, or go with the high volume emd .us?

or do both?

just not sure which way to go with this, i have heard that .us are harder to rank, and even though i rarely see a top ranking .us its just hard to believe it makes that much difference.

Thanks,
Jon

You heard wrong Jon. You can rank a .us just as easy as a .com. Now it might be harder to rank it in Germany or Australia. There is one other thing to consider. If WhoIs Privacy is important to you for any reason, .us domains do not allow it, unless something has changed I wasn't aware of. For most people that is not going to be a concern though.

I would probably go with the plural keyword because the plural word also contains the singular word, so you can target both. However the opposite is not true. Well, you could still target both, but the keyword wouldn't be in the domain name.

    Thanks Mike.

That is kinda the way i was leaning, even tho I think the .us would be ok, the plural might end up working in my favor like you suggested.

Hey Jon, I have to agree with your statement about "i have heard that .us are harder to rank, and even though i rarely see a top ranking .us its just hard to believe it makes that much difference." I too have not seen any .us domain name rank for competitive KW's
So I would go with the .com given the choice.

    Best of luck..

The .us TLD is very new. That's all. There are hardly any of them registered compared to .com's, .net's, etc. That is why you don't find them in the SERPs as much.

Personally I would go for the plural .com in this situation.

A .us would be a bad decision for a globally targeted website and lacks some credibility in my opinion.

Remember that exact match domains don't have as much impact as they previously had, so I wouldn't get too hung up on plurals.

For that reason I'd go for the .com

I goes with 2nd one seobacklinksgenerator, although keywords in domain name has no much impact on ranking now but still SEO Backlinks is good keyword. 2nd .com is better then .us as domain name suggest that you want to give services than you need to get clients from any where not specific .us.
