On Page Optimization #8 To #4

I have this nice little niche site, it hasn't made me a lot of money recently after the Panda update I dropped from #1 to page two. A competitor came in and claimed the #1 spot.

I've sat at number 8 for a long time now, really just giving up on the website. It's not huge traffic but when it was at #1 it was a good $10 a day revenue, I'm talking about the big G of course. 1,300 local searches, 3600 global, $2.11 CPC

After a couple of months at # 8 I decide I'm tired of seeing it at #8 last week. I start taking 1 page or blog post a day and updating the on page SEO.

My website has now jumped to #4 from # 8 after 7 straight days of this. No backlinking has happened at all.

I'm done being lazy with my onpage SEO.

A good reminder that older pages can be made new again with a little attention and it's often easier than putting up new content. I have a few pages I need to get back to, too!

Congrats on the results from your efforts. Keep working on those pages and you could get that #1 spot!

I've always found it much easier to rank sites that I update often than sites with few pages that I try to hammer with backlinks.

Higher PR, quicker indexing on Google, just all round good vibes towards constantly growing web sites.

Good to see. Now build some good backlinks and you'll get to that #1 spot.

Because you were at #1 before, you should have no problem getting back to that spot again.

It can be due to google dance. Sometimes your site can drop in SERPs for a while for no obvious reason. Keep on with link building and be patient, you will regain your spot!

Good stuff, what theme are you using?
Many people do not really take the time out to do good on page SEO. It really can be a big difference between a couple of spots. I am talking about good on page seo not just bolding your keyword and have a keyword density of 40 percent lol

I think you need to create unique contents and backlinks on it. An ethical method of SEO can surely bring your site back to the no. 1 position in G.

Google likes quality fresh contents. I'm running micro niche websites, too. Most people I know who running micro niche sites are using similar strategy: 1. Find few keywords; 2. Create several articles; 3. Building some backlinks. Then they leave them there and wait for indexing. If those people can find suitable keywords and have enough resources to build backlinks, most of those websites will get good rank, but the rank won't keep a long time, of course. So updating websites properly(onpage optimization) really is an important thing for webmasters. It's beneficial to your websites' rank, might bring more traffic, and consistant updating can build your own brand.

Thanks for starting this thread. On page optimization involves in optimizing targeted pages for certain keywords and get them ranked high in search engines for specific keywords. This is most vital step in SEO.

The SEO model has changed with Panda in that, rather than getting as many URLs as you can indexed, you now want only your highest-quality, most important URLs indexed. Consistent signals should be sent as to which pages are most important:

Decide which URLs are canonical and create strong signals (rel canonical, robot exclusion, internal link profile, XML sitemaps)

Decide which URLs are your most valuable and ensure they are indexed and well optimized.

Remove any extraneous, overhead, duplicate, low value and unnecessary URLs from the index.

Build internal links to canonical, high-value URLs from authority pages (strong mozRank, unique referring domains, total links, are example metrics).

Build high-quality external links via social media efforts.

This is common one that placing in #2 or 3 and its goes to 4th or 5th place. We can't say when G likes something as new or old.

But in my view analyzing a website is needed in SEO work. This is important for both on-page and off-page. By keeping an eye with our competitor keywords and its streams will give some points to stand in best in SE.

I'm glad you posted this. If I see news items related to some of my pages, I will add in some info to the existing pages and find that helps boost them. In addition, adding new pages makes a difference I find for several pages on the site in terms of ranking- especially the home page. I don't think going crazy on headlines and bolding is a good idea but just using that tastefully is helpful.

I find it's a good idea to go back to existing content once the dust settles a bit and your rankings flatten out. I consider this my baseline of sorts. At that point, you have an even clearer picture of how to better "tweak" the content.

When you say that you made 1 page or blog post per day I understand.

But when you say that you update the SEO on the page, I don't understand what you've done.
I mean, I (think I) know what you need to make a good SEO page or blog post, using: anchor texts, image descriptions and alt tag, writing with a couple of keywords in mind, etc.
But what you do to update the SEO of a page? I have no idea how can you update SEO.

In the business world, Cash is the King... without it the business will not survive..

In Search Engine world, Content is the King.. Without it, there will not be needing of search engine...

So when you post high quality content, google gonna simply reward you before your competition... so before you going to a niche, carefully study how often google bot visit your competition site, how often do they update their content.....

ask yourself, do I have the resource: time and money to keep up with them.... if not your rank will drop, you will stuck at a rank....

I would not take a private client who does not allow me to do the "onpage SEO" or modified their website for SEO, that's how important it is....

when you can get 256+ factories correctly...you can just watch your competition's site fall off the rank by the days....

    Cheers

When I used to hear that, I used to think that "content" just meant lots and lots of pages (i.e. quantity). Now, I've learned that on many occasions, 4 pages of good quality content can "beat" 50 pages of not-so-quality content.
