Anything wrong with this backlinking strategy?

I recently built out my first niche site, and within 2 weeks it had hit #4, problem is now I'm down to #20, and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Here's what I did:

- wrote 2 articles
- submitted home page to social bookmarking
- added 3rd article to site
- used sliq submitter to submit to 750 website directories
- added 4th article to site
- used AMR to submit to PR1+, 50 health article directories (think it was around 200)
added 5th article to site

According to SEO rank I was as high as #4 around the 2 week mark, its now at the 3 week mark and I'm at #20.

This site was around $12/day at #4 and is back down to $4/day, so I'd really like to hit #1.

Am I doing anything wrong? What is the next step?

One of my biggest problems is I only have 20 Y! links showing up and they all seem to be social bookmarks. I don't see any AMR links showing up yet, but it has only been 4 days.

Thanks for your help guys!

You're not doing anything wrong, ranking takes time. Ranking high quickly normally happens in new sites before they drop to where they're supposed to be.

I would say, keep posting quality content and building quality HIGH PR backlinks from different places like blog comments, article submission, forum links etc

I would do reverse seo on your competitions backlinks. use site explorer. I also use alexa and see who links to sites from alexa. Reason I like alexa is the links they show are links people have used to navigate to the website. Meaning if you can duplicate them you can also get some traffic. Hope this helps. You may also consider adding some lsi keywords to your articles.

Heyy Your Stetergy Seems Good. There is not any problem.

If you want to check your AMR Links Than Just PAste Your Article Title In google Search Box.and You Will See lot of Links Are There.

      Thanks.

        Thanks for the quick replies!

Should I be collecting my links and pinging them? I'm still very new to this, but I've read this helps get them indexed.

I've also heard of people using Scrapebox in collected live links, but 1) not sure what this means and 2) no clue how to do it.

Google the term "QDF". You will find your answers there.

You didn't do anything wrong, you just haven't done enough to deserve to be ranked #4 yet. You are ranked where you deserve to be now.

This is kind of weird...I just used Yahoo Site Explorer to check his the #4 site's backlinks...he has 111 Y! links, and about 90 of them are from this blog:

      blog[dot]skanesdansteater[dot]se/

I go to that blog and it's in another language and I don't even see any links. What is that all about?

He probably posted a comment and got into the Recent Comments box on that site which gave him a sitewide link. Now he has dropped out of the Recent Comments widget, but YSE has not updated yet and flushed all those links out of its list, so they are still showing. His comment may also have got deleted which would have the same effect. It also might explain why the sudden drop, all those links suddenly disappearing (even though sitewide links shouldn't really have such a dramatic effect).

That strategy was kind of the extent of my linkbuilding.

Any thoughts on what type of links to build now?

Also, how long do I need to continue building links? I have no clue how people have 100s of sites and continually build links.

Were in the same boat bro. I only started a month ago i have 3 sites on the second page andvim wondering all the same questions. How to keep up velocity for hundreds of sites that are not always going to get natural organic backlinks from someone linking nack or scraping a article. ????

I mean, I guess eventually people start outsourcing all of this, but I have a few sites up and running plus work from 7am - 6pm everyday.

How has your link building been going so far? You had to do much or did you pick some pretty nice keywords?

I got lucky and ranked a site with emd on the first page two hours after the site indexed with no backlinks and its still sitting there in 2nd after everyone said it would drop. Been a month and it has moved. Not even google dance. My other site has been jumping from 1st, 2nd and nack down to 20th page for a month now and its finally sitting stable on second page. That sites had all kinds of crap done to it with every backlinking strategy imaginable lol this new site i put up 5 days ago i have really high pr 6, 5, 4, to 0 blog comments, a wp plugin, and ordered a 5350 profile link pyramid last night. It sitting almost close to the first page. The competition ill smoke when my site doesnt dance anymore. How? I dunno...i guess just really good on page seo that i have learned this past month. I new to this as well..i dunno what to.expect but all the wild unstable dancing i read everyday. I hope its all worth it in the end.

I already posted this for another thread last night....but here's a snapshot of a keyword ranking for one of my sites going through the dance. It just happens. It's good news that you WERE up that high.

Well It seems that you have used a submitter, In my opinion you should not use auto submitter tool to submit your website. It may penalize your website.

Who are you using for SE Tracking? I'm using SEScout, but I'm looking for a more stable solution.

You can also add link building techniques like Guest Posting, Strategic Profile (like on your blog about us), Press Release Submission and Ads Posting..

This is Google dance but it can also be caused by QDF (search G).

dude good job in taking action, that more then most do. If my math is correct 9 more sites at 12 dollars a day is a 120 a day

my suggestion is to keep on building links to your site. Also see what type of links your competitors are using. If they have high quality links then you will want to pump up the volume and create better links then them.

    Don't worry, ranking takes time.

Just keep with good action and the success will come.

    Yes, link-building takes time!
You have added articles to your site, have you submitted them to article directories, if not, do so, there is about 50+ worth your while.

Directory submission, it will for sure take a long time you see results from this strategy. Many of the free directories have a reviewing time between 1-6 months, be sure that you are using 'SEO friendly' directories; no redirects, no nofollow, no java etc.

For fast results do some blog-posting for back-links. Whats important is that you comment on dofollow and related pages with low outgoing links, this is important don't just post on any page you can find, it will be a waste of time (trust me on this one), quality before quantity.
