Taking The Gloves Off - Fighting For Search Engine Rank (David Vs Goliath Style)

So one of my websites finally made it to page 1 for a very competitive high cpc keyword. The competition is pretty tough, and the back-link building is nuts!

It took me a little under 2 months, and I'm curious (for those that are open to discussing, just talking general stuff here, not really needing to know word for word strategies unless your up to it), what's a good approach when your competition is all over the place (let me elaborate):

There are a few PR 4's and Pr 3's, and there is a PR 0 That has manage to land in the top 5, that is barely older than my site.

The weird thing is, looking at the backlinks, it's really hard to understand what these people are doing lol (I've gone as far as to look at every single backlinks for those with less than 500 - yep I got time on my hands).

So to sum it up, what are some good white hat (or as close to as you can get) strategies to stay competitive and kick some ass, when it comes to competition with a few that are clearly buying high pr links.

Sorry If that was all over the place guys (thoughts? :0)

Thanks for the suggestion, but what section is that? (Your link is just general guidelines). This section is called Internet Marketing (so doesn't my topic more or less apply)? If not I will humbly redirect future threads such as this in the suggested section if it makes sense.
