Getting Google Webmaster to verify my WP Blog website question.

Hi guys,
Please could I ask your advice? I am battling to verify my WP blog in Google Webmaster. It was fine until I switched from a standard website to a WP blog.
I tried verifying using the option "Verify with analytics" but it tells me the code is in the wrong place. I have loaded the Google Analytics WP Plugin but Webmaster is not giving me any data.
Apparently I have to edit the webpage with the verification code in the <head> section but I have absolutely no idea which WP file to put the verification code into.
Having a really blonde day here :confused:
