Hi all, there is something I want to know about forum posting. I know fully well that forum posting increases blog rank but what I want to know this time is that, will I be ranked if I consistently continue posting on 1 or 2 high rank forums or must I be posting in so many blogs in other to be ranked. Thanks for your reply.

Focusing on a couple of high-traffic forums sounds like a more solid strategy. Anyway, make sure you add value to the community, not just build links.

Definitely follow this advice. Absolutely do not just post for links. Rather, look at what is being said or asked and add something RELEVANT to it. Opinions are fine as long as they are considerate of others. And forum posting is definitely relevant. My site has gone from a PR of zero to a PR of 2. It did take a bit longer, because I didn't realize what pagerank these pages were. I installed the pagerank bar on Chrome so that now I can see which ones to post in and which ones to basically ignore. I've also ranked higher for the keywords I've been trying for. Some I've gotten number 1, while others that are highly competitive are taking longer. Another thing I do that I heard can help index your links on forums is to F6 or copy the page with your link and then post it on sites like Ping-o-matic and Digg so that the search engines see that there is a page there. The only downside to forum posting is how many outbound links there are. This takes away from the pagerank of the forums and is the main reason it takes so long to help you. Using the pagerank bar to see which forums are best and also by utilizing other strategies will ensure that you rank higher more consistently and quickly, but posting links in signatures on forums in a non-spam kind of way DOES help in the long run.

Forum posting will help but you need to take a comprehensive approach to SEO. You should also be submitting to article directories, press releases, blog comments, profile links, etc. You want a wide range of backlinks and not just backlinks from one source.

Forum posting is just part of the bigger equation to getting ranked. Keep posting, but with quality and try to post in high pr forums. You still will need to continue to optimize your site as much as possible rather it's keyword targeting, articles, or whatever. Just keep pushing and don't stop.

As long as your comments give the forum community valuable content then that looks like a good method. I do suggest that you join more forums so that your backlinks are from a wider range of ip addresses which will help your backlink diversity

Forum posting was not designed for mere link building only. It was made for learning new things and other things that might help you.

Make up your mind and don't think of ranking your site using links from forum posting. But rank your site using the knowledge you get from forum posting.

It's all about learning more logical things than to get the least of this thing can give.

Thanks for this question, it has made me have an insight on this. And thanks for the answers, you warriors have the knowledge that we need in this IM field. Sometimes you may know the basics, but you really need to know how to apply it practically. Link building remains one of the critical tools in building an authority website, and how you do it really matters. This thread is very helpful.

At this point you'll actually get more value from those forums by positioning yourself as a knowledgeable expert. Build trust & you can get visitors to your site from your forum posts. As for ranking, the recommendations you've gotten to diversify your backlink building are sound. You'll gain a lot more by having a variety of sources linking back to your site.

You need to use more than just forum posting if it is back links you are using it for to create a more natural look to the links.

With forum posting as well refrain from throwing links in there straight away, even in your signature, and just become part of the community and then add recommendations and signature links later on when people know that you have something valid to add to the conversation/topic.

Forum posting can be a good way to increase traffic to your website. You can attract people to visit your site by creating a good signature but not just that.

If you are a good member also and you contribute well to the community, you can build a good reputation. And that's how you can make organic clicks to your site.
