Is google adwords kidding me or are there other factors that I'm not taking into account

Hi everyone, I'm actually very new at all of this internet marketing stuff (as in I started with SEO about 2 weeks ago). I have however been very aggressive in getting myself up and running to try and start making some money with adsense.

So according to google adword key generator - I stumbled upon some long tail keywords in the health niche:
- 5,500 searches a month
- Zero competition
- $5.60 CPC

I thought that looked pretty good and since I had personal knowledge of this exact condition I built a site around these words, and built quality backlinks over 8 days to get myself to number #1 on google.com across a variety of these words.

Now, here's the thing. Despite matching exact matching for quite a few key words - and showing up as number one on google - virtually no one is clicking on my site (like 10 views a day)

Anyone have any idea why this might be? I'm really confused. Please help a noobie out.

When you used the keyword tool did you sort the results by exact match? If not, then the 5,500 you see is for broad match...If you switch it to exact match you will most likely see that the monthly searches are much lower than what you originally thought.....

    Just my $.02.....

Well don't I feel like a ****ing moron. I wish I'd known about this earlier...

Thanks for clearing that up though.

What does a 'broad' match type mean anyway?

Broad match basically means any of those words in your key phrase will match. Which can give you less than optimum results. Exact match is what most suggest using.

Don't forget your description makes a lot of people decide to click on your link, so that must be enticing and focused on the keyword.
